Welcome to Timperley Hockey Club's Academy - we are very proud to have established a large and growing Academy for young players of all standards and ages to
play hockey using our excellent on site faculties and in a friendly and safe environment. We currently have over 100 young players from age years of age upwards participating in
regular training sessions on a Sunday morning, playing in the Academy teams and making the transition to play for our senior men's and ladies teams.
Our Under 7 players focus on an introduction to the hockey basics and the
emphasis is to create a fun and safe environment to build a love of the game.
From Under 9 we introduce more skills building on the basics and introduce players to playing
in a team. We currently run teams for the following age groups : Under 9 (mixed) Under 11 (mixed)
Under 13/4 (mixed, boys and girls) Under 15/6 (mixed, boys and girls).
We play regular fixtures at Under 13 mixed (Beavers) and Under 15 mixed (Badgers)
on a Saturday and other teams play in tournaments and matches on a Sunday.
Our team of coaches provide training from early September through to the
early summer meeting the needs of all abilities - and we encourage all our players and parents
to enjoy the social side of hockey building friendships and respect for fellow players, coaches
and helpers. Our coaching plans and approach are are continually being reviewed to ensure we
reflect the best practice and new ideas from England Hockey and we have England Hockey
Level 1 and 2 coaches working with our young players.
We are extremely proud to have been re accredited in 2009 for the England
Hockey Clubs First award - this provides external validation of the systems and processes
we have in place to provide a safe environment to learn and develop their hockey skills
and meet child welfare and protection standards.
Find out more about the academy in the Players and Parents Handbook and on the website or
pop down to the club on a Sunday morning to watch training, meeting the coaches and committee members
to find out more.
