GMJHL U13 Girls Timperley Team B
By James Lloyd-Williams
Timps B stay undeafeated
In the first GMJHL all nine teams played each other. Based on those results, the top five were placed in one group, the other five teams, the original four plus new entrants Timperley B in the second group.
Joint first after the initial tournament, the team continued where they’d left off the previous month, coming out strongly and winning their first game against Stockport 2 – 0, with Imogen firing in both goals. The second game was against Alderley Edge, so often our bogey team, but this time we took the initiative from the off, held the upper hand through the 13 minutes. But try as hard as we could, the ball would not end up in the back of the net, the game finishing 0 – 0. Next up where local rivals Brooklands. Still smarting from the previous draw, the girls came out firing, dominating the game again and slamming in 3 goals (Imogen 2, and Mabel 1), though it could have been more. The final game was now the top of the table clash, win it and Timps would be top, lose or draw and Bowdon A would be top, the game was cut and thrust, but in the end both teams nullified each other and the game finished a 0 – 0 draw.
In the GMJHL Table Timperley A now sit 4 points above third placed Alderley Edge, but 2 points behind Bowdon A. See table below
TIMPERLEY A Stats
Played 12, Won 7, Drawn 4, and Lost 1. 25 Points
Imogen - 7
Hannah S - 4
Kate L - 4
Mabel - 2
Fran Clean Sheets - 10 from 12
Due to teams withdrawing, a spare slot became available and so Timperley played a second team in this and for the remaining tournaments.
Matching the spirit of the A Team, and showing the strong play that terrorised other Northern teams last year, the girls started with a 2 – 0 wins in their first two games over Didsbury Northern and Lymm. As with the other Group it would be Timperley v Bowdon to top the group, and after a hard fought game, it finished 0 – 0. Getting back onto the goal scoring way, they completed their set of four games with another win, 1 – 0 over Oldham.
Joint top of their group on points, unfortunately Bowdon A’s higher goal difference put them in top place. Nevertheless, having played 8 games less than other teams Timperley B are still 7th in the overall GMJHL table on 10 points.
