Catch up with the Blues progress to Lee Valley with EH games coming think and fast over the next few weeks !

With the new format EH competitions up and running we've still got lots of Timperley teams in action with EH Sunday's coming thick and fast over the coming weeks !

England Hockey has a new website for all its competitions which is why the games aren't all on Fixtures Live - or if they are its as a friendly. Save the link to the EH Fixtures and Results for Men's and Women's Leagues and Championships EH Fixtures and Results Website

Do try come down to support the teams if you can home or away as there's nothing like a cup game to create some thrilling hockey - and last Sunday (21st January) we have two fantastic games of hockey at Stockport Road and a big win out on the Wirral ! In horrendous conditions with a monsoon following a blizzard all in the space of 2 hours all players. coaches, umpires and supporters deserve a medal for braving the elements !

In a particularly early 11.30pm push back our all star Mixed XI made it to The Oval to take on Bebington in the Mixed Cup - after a slow start and coming in 1 -1 at have time the Blues kicked on to finish the game 7-2 winners and onwards to the next round in what looks like to the biggest of all the EH competitions this season.

Back at Timperley snow was being cleared from the pitches at 11.30am ready to welcome Sales Ladies 0ver 35's and Bradford Boys U18's in a reversed fixture after three attempts to play up in the hills of Yorkshire have all fallen foul to the weather ! Fourth time lucky and it was game on for the lads !

A bit a rain or hockey friendships didn't get in the way of the Ladies Over 35's focus and determination to make it back to Lee Valley after last season's finals ! In an excellent game, well fought by both teams the Ladies kept cool heads, a clean sheet and bagged a goal a half to seal a solid 2-0 win and onwards to the last 16 and a home draw against Bowdon.

The Boys Under 18 match turned into another thrilling game and showed that the boys have a never give up attitude drilled into them. In the first round game against Ben Rhydding having never been ahead we snuck a 6-5 win in the final minutes. With Bradford taking and early lead and a 3 - 0 lead at half time we needed some Caribbean straight talking from Albert and words of wisdom and encouragement to two reset the boys already for comeback of the season so far ! Going four down the task looked too big for any team but calmly and with a 110% team performance the boys notched back to goals to make it 4 - 4 in the drying minutes. Only for Bradford to win and flick and miss it. Straight down to Flicks and with heads and confidence high the lads nailed all five flicks to win through to the next round to play Brooklands at home on 4th February.

The Over 50's Men have made it to the Quarter Finals of the Tier 3 competition following Huddersfield Dragons conceding the game - the second Men's Over 50's Walk over against them ! Its far to complex to explain and whilst its good to progress a step nearer to Lee Valley the Men will have preferred to play. We're still waiting for the draw for the next round.

This weekends EH games

We welcome Wigton hockey club on Sunday who are visiting with their Under 14 Boys and Girls teams in the EH North Leagues both games push back at 12.45pm. The girls currently top their league and we will looking for a win and a place in the regional finals. The boys have been hit by a clash with the greater Manchester JAC games. The Under 16 Girls play Alderley at Home at 3.30pm in their Mini league.

The Under 18 Girls were due to play Lancaster next Sunday (4th Feb) but they now have a Walk Over as Lancaster conceded. So onwards to the next round.
