Join us for a short informal ceremony at 6pm to unveil the new clubhouse clock & bench in Stan's memory. Message from Nick Burnett, Club President

To Colleagues and Friends of Stan Johnson, all Exec Members et al…..

As you may know the sum of nearly £1000 was raised in memory of Stan by family and friends. After much thought within the Club Executive and discussion with Carol and her family , it has been decided that this together with the Club’s contribution will be used to purchase and erect a new Clubhouse Clock which will go on the front of the Clubhouse above the glass doors. In addition a new wooden park bench will be situated on the decking in view of the main cricket wicket.

Stan’s family have also kindly agreed that the monies raised in memory of Stan should also be put towards the planting of a new line of trees on the front RHS of the ground (as you look from the Clubhouse), to replace the old fencing which has since been removed. The family also wish to inter Stan’s ashes within these trees at some point.

As the Clock and Bench have now just been installed, we have agreed with Carol to hold a short ‘unveiling’ ceremony, which will be held in the Clubhouse this Saturday, the 24th September at around 6.00pm, when all of the day’s sporting fixtures should have been completed. It would of course be nice if some of Stan’s old contemporaries could be there and I would hope that some senior members from both Cricket and Hockey could be present as well.

As far as Hockey goes, this will of course be after the completion of the Ladies 1st XI first home league game in the Northern Conference of the Investec National League……push-back 2.30pm, an occasion, I know of which Stan would be very proud.

If you’re not already involved on Saturday, and can make it down for about half an hour then that would be great.

As ever, I look forward to seeing you there.

Nick Burnett
Club President
