With some cracking results topped by a fantastic Academy #Hockeyfest last weekend - this weekend THC plays its first ever game in the IWHL

The Men's 1,2,4 and 5, plus the beavers were all celebrating wins against Bowdon last week with the 3's only narrowly losing 3-4 conceding two goals before Franky was able to get across to AGSB to play in goal!). A bit more mixed fortunes for the ladies with the 2's going down to Liverpool Sefton in a friendly. The Cheshire teams were in league action and we saw the 3's losing 2-0 after a long trip to Oswestry, 5's lost 0-9 to Lymm but the 4's nailed it with a 11-0 win against a rusty Northrop Hall well and truly christening the new goals !

Sunday was our start the season #hockeyfest with a fantastic turnout for academy, registration, kit orders and mouthguards before heading out take on the THC Olympic Challenges. Was great to see our youngest players enjoying the challenges. Any new players (aged 5-15) wanting to give hockey a go or join the academy can sign up on any Sunday and needs to come down for 10.45 with a parent to complete the paperwork.

Whilst the turnout for the senior #BigClubPicnic and Hockey Challenges was lower than expected those who came down entered into the spirit of things with new member Sarah Chancellor wiping the field with her Victoria Sponge to take the THC GBBO prize. A big highlight was seeing our next generation of home grown future players as the THC #hockeybabies joined us for the afternoon thanks to Clair Horan, Becky Horan, Katherine Richards and Caroline Small who all made it down - and we hope to see Hannah Ascott soon too as she was away on holiday.

Social events are an important part of what makes a #greathockeyclub so we hope as many members and friends will join us for our very own OktoberFest on Saturday 15th October

Jackie Lord, Jay Mortimer and Matt Young have been doing a great job on fundraising and selling pitch side banner packages and the new banners should be here for next weekend. We'll have more news on sponsorship next week and look forward to sharing details of those local businesses that are supporting us and we ask members to think about supporting them in return.

With match day looming the men have a Cheshire Cup match v Crewe Vagrants at home at 2.30pm so lets get some support down and see if the new goals help their scoring powers come to life. After last weeks near clean sweep against Bowdon - this week we're taking on Brooklands MU teams so more local derby 'friendlies' ! Ladies 2's have a friendly and its league action for the Ladies 3 -5's.

Thanks to our first Match Day Sponsor of the season Ed Strokpek - do look our for the posters and information at the Club on Saturday promoting Ed's families Gite Business in France. If you would like to be a match day sponsor for from £50 - either as an individual or a business please email timperleyhc@gmail.com or speak to Jackie Lord, Jay Mortimer or Matt Young.

So onto the Big One ! Saturday is an important day in our history as the Ladies 1's become the first Timperley team to ever play at national league level. We hope everyone in the Club is proud of this achievement and will get behind the team in their inaugural season. The girls travel to Liverpool Sefton for a 12.30pm start and any away support would be really welcome. They've trained hard over the summer, they are now training two nights a week as well as personal fitness. Coach Mike Power and Assistant Coach Danny Higgin are all fired up too ! We also welcome Ian Goalen who has taken up the role as Ladies 1's manager.

The Ladies 1's are straight back into EH Cup action on Sunday with what will be a feisty match v Doncaster 1's away at 12noon. After pipping Doncaster to the North Premier title last season they will be looking forward to take us on again so soon after our promotion !

We've attracted and recruitment a great group of new players over the summer and the strengthening of the wider mens and ladies squads. Just as the GB Hockey Girls refer to how the #31 (the centrally contracted squad), helped set the tempo and standard for the 16 players selected for the first game. As a sport we've some fantastic role models with the Team GB - players of all standards at THC can learn from their attitude, passion and approach to being part of a larger squad and how success comes through having strength in depth of the squad and all the support working as one big team on and off the pitch. So as well as having strong 1's squads we also get stronger 2's squads and a ripple down through the teams to strengthen us as a club.

We wish our girls every success in their first game and look forward to hosting our first ever home IWHL game on Saturday 24th September at 2.30pm - games will be free to attend, there will be small charge for programmes. We'll update on arrangements and some of the other match day changes next week

Men's and Ladies 2's League Hockey starts next week and don't forget we have our Strength, Conditioning and Post Match Recovery taster sessions on Monday 7-8pm and that its time to pay subs and get any later SilverFX kit orders in by Monday 19th Sept. Look out for more small changes around the club all as part of our theme to build #GreatMatchDays

We've had a few enquiries about #hockeydog as he's not been around too much - the report back is he's fine, growing fast and was feeling a little sorry for himself after a visit to the vet ! He should be back on fine form soon and have been practising for a few new photo shoots !

Finally, congratulations to all our Under 18 players selected for the JRPC Tier 1 tournaments over the next two weekend's where then Pennine Puma's team's (North) will be selected. Good luck and play well to: Siobhan Driscol, Alex Mulligan, Ben - Nicholson, Jones and Entwisle, Alex McBride, Jack Entwisle and Rory Maddocks. Ciara Bass has suffered an injury and wont be able to play for a few weeks

Let's have another fine weekend and look forward to seeing growing support on the sidelines and in the clubhouse !
