Oktoberfest goes down a storm, more socials planned, hockey camp and more green on the Results Board !

Bavaria met Timperley last Saturday at our first THC Oktoberfest - with over 100 people attending we sold out on the night, saw some cracking outfits, two live bands, experienced new standards in DJ'ing from 'Wammo' and managed to drink most of the beer laid on for the night dry ! We had great feedback and on what was one of the best club nights for many years!

Thanks to Stu 'Disco' Heywood for taking the lead and making this great new addition to the THC Calendar come to life - Patty and the bands, the bar staff and everyone involved. It felt like a real #OneClub evening with players from across all the teams, plus friends and family and even our TSC President Nick Burnett who had such a good time he had a challenges finding in train home! As everyone had such a good time we'll be running Oktoberfest again next season ! Here's a few photos from the night http://www.timperleyhockeyclub.com/photos/oktoberfest2016-700776.html

..and the hockey....

After a few tough weeks the Saturday teams brought home seven wins last week, one draw and five defeats and its good to see more 'green' than 'read' on our Fixtures Live summary page http://w.fixtureslive.com/club/830/whats-on/Timperley. The Badgers and Beavers continue to rattle in the goals and we also had EH Cup success on Sunday for our Over 50 Men's and Over 35 Women who wont their games.

Its tough for teams not converting hard work into results and as #OneClub encourage other teams to give support to any of the home teams when they can and add that 12th Blue player on the pitch. Both 1st teams are on the road this week to Loughborough Students and Formby so we'll be watching twitter for the updates and results

We've also got our new format Hockey Camp running next week (26th - 28th October) there are a few places left so please contact Caroline Small, Jim McCall or Albert or see the website for details. Players MUST be booked in advance and not just arrive on the day !

...You're the Umpire ....

We have lots of players who have the gift of a comprehensive knowledge of the Rules and 20:20 vision all of which far exceeds many of our allocated umpires - and its a regular feature in many games !

Why not test yourself out - sign up for free to the new England Hockey Hub and take a look at the 'You're the Umpire' video clips and how good your decisions are !

....more local businesses supporting THC...

Jackie Lord has been leading the work to make a real dent in raising income from advertising and sponsorship to go towards the cost of running hockey at THC. A huge thanks to Jackie for bringing great energy, ideas, challenge and dog with a bone tenacity! Jay Mortimer and Matt Young have been leading the way too and along with other members feeding in leads.

We'll be unveiling another new couple of pitch side banners this week thanks to a lead from Laura Corrigan - we're delighted to have House Bar and Restaurant in Goose Green supporting us, along with Home and Gift in Hale, CoolAir, Thermal Road Repairs and Barrington's supplier of match balls and the new Investec banner has also arrived !

We'll also be announcing news of an exciting new project with our new headline THC Sponsor Kitchens of Altrincham over the next few weeks that will make a real difference to the club overall. We're also finalising getting Corks Out in Timperley on board to support THC and work with the Club too.

We still have slots available for Match Day Sponsors starting at £50 - and on 13th November Nigel Stanhope from the men's 2's is match day sponsor and will they'll be the opportunity to order one of his Turkeys reared at his farm in Lymm ready for delivery at Christmas

We are very fortunate to have so many local business and members that are supporting the club and its this type of support that means we can maintain match fees at current levels. Do show support to the businesses that support us and do mention Timperley.

..and even more socials planned ....
We're on a roll with socials now and would love to hear ideas you may have for an early 2017 event - will 'Timperly's Got Talent' or the infamous THC 'Star's in their Eyes' make a come back or something new !

Coming up we are just finalising with the club and other sections two more events for 2016:

- Wine tasting event on Friday 25th November

In partnership with one of a growing number of local businesses supporting the club we'll be bringing a range of wines from Corks Out in Timperley Village to taste on the night along with some cheeses and the chance to place your Xmas wine order for delivery to the club just before Xmas

Save the date and ticket details will be out soon - bring some friends and join us

- Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday 17th December

A tradition of the club over recent years has been to run daytime festive activities for our younger members followed by the Christmas Draw and Christmas Party for the older members in the evening. Save the date as this is a great way to see our #hockeyfamily before folks head off for the festive break

TSC Christmas Draw tickets will be circulated in November to all members (senior and academy) to contribute to this major Club fundraiser. If you have any business contacts that may be able to donate prizes please email timperleyhc@gmail.com

The date for the Annual End of Season Dinner Dance will be confirmed soon and as a must attend event after last season fabulous event. As its our 130th Season we are also in the firming up plans for a marquee and TSC Summer Ball to incorporate our anniversary celebrations.

So lets have a good weekends hockey - if you're free on Sunday why not pop down to South Downs Road at 2.30pm to support the Ladies 1's in their EH Cup match v Bowdon - where your club hoodies, coats and lets get plenty of 'blue and black' on show !
