The new season rolls on - Oktober is set to be another month packed with lots of hockey and off the pitch events !

The season rolls on and we're pleased to have launched our new Half Term Hockey Camp this week for younger players (26-28th October). The camp is open to all - complete beginners and our own more experienced academy players - do help encourage the next generation of hockey players by helping pass the word on and if you've young players why not book them in ! The Camp will be run by Jim McCall and Albert Marcarno.

Its all about the hockey !

Looking back at last weekend we had some tough games and a set of results that don't fully reflect the style of play and effort put in by all teams. 5 wins, 2 draws and 6 loses - well done to the Beavers, Mens and Ladies 3 and 4 who all won and Ladies 2's and Badgers who drew. Our reformed men's 6's also had their league game of the season. The new #GreatMatchDay Results Blackboard looked bit sparse not because of the scores - but because Keiran forgot to bring the chalk pen !

This weekend the Ladies 1's head for a big game at Beeston HC and the Men's ones have a short hop over the Alderley. We've six home games and a Sunday Cup game as the Men's 2's play City of Manchester at 1.15pm in the EH Cup.

Training turnouts have been really good across the Academy and Seniors over recent weeks - do come down if you've not yet been training yet as this is very much part of what we offer at THC for all members. Coaching is our largest area of expenditure so its really positive to see so many players at sessions.

We've also added a new Goal Keeper coaching session on a Tuesday for academy and senior players. Competition for team places is high and this is overall good for the Club as we push and raise performance standards - players competing for places also means we need to continue to manage the new approaches to selection and team / player communications.

Sadly we're not continuing the Strength, Conditioning and Post Match Recovery Sessions at this stage as we had low turnout for the taster sessions. We will revisit later in the year and if there is interest to do a block of sessions in the New Year to help recovery from the festive period ! Caroline Small in her Hockey Development Co-ordinator role is continually looking for new things to add to our hockey programme so please let her know if there's anything you'd like us to consider. new ideas we're looking at include Hockey Tots and Walking Hockey.

We still need to get more people giving Umpiring a go - please speak to Kieran Jeffrey or our Umpire developer Nick Burnett is you would be up for giving a little back and on some weeks just meaning teams can play a league game without being docked points. We've the ideal opportunities to get some games in for experience by umpiring the badgers or beavers.

We've also a full fixtures list EH games coming up in October and November that all require a Level 1 Umpire for U14 Boys, U16 Girls, U18 Girls, U18 Boys, Mens 2's and Over 50's, Mixed, Ladies 1's, 2's, Over 35's and 45's

Congratulations go to three of our home grown players selected for Pennine Puma's (North in old money) Ben Nicholson and Ben Jones (Under 17) and Ben Entwisle (Under 16) - playing over October Half Term at HiPac and Futures Cup.

Off the pitch tickets (£7) are now on sale for our very own take on a Bavarian night out as Timperley does Oktoberfest. People have asked why there is a charge - its simply to cover the basic costs - Stein Glasses, Food and looking after the bands refreshment requirements on the night. A big thank you to Pat Marsden and his band, and Phil Geraghty and his band - for waiving any fee for providing the entertainment !

Be down nice and early as we will be kicking off at 7pm with a Timperley meets Bavaria twist, followed by food and the bands later in the evening - plenty of interesting takes on outfits are being sorted with a rush of online orders from the men and some creative thinking from the ladies ! Ashy has ordered the beer so we're all set now we just need you to buy your tickets this weekend ! Lets get a really good turnout and a big thank you to Stu 'Disco' Heywood who has organised the night and the support from Ashy, Sam and Colin at the Club for their help and support.

We're also at the business end of collecting TSC Subscriptions. As a member owned, and run, club this money that goes straight back into the running of the club facilities, our two astro's, clubhouse and running the club and site. No Pay No Play is about being fair to everyone - as it people don't pay and we play them - the hockey section has to pay TSC for unpaid subs and that means we have to raise more money to cover this cost.

We'll be completing our England Hockey Affiliation over the next few weeks so will be contacting members to help update our data as we need to include a range of data. This is important to EH as it supports bids to get funding for out sport and to help raise sponsorship by having a good profile of player participation. So we hope that you'll help us get our data up to date - now most people are signed up to the website its easy to do and you control your profile data.

Its Kit Order Deadline day on Friday 14th October so dont forget to get your on line order completed - http://http://www.timperleyhockeyclub.com/news/kit-order-deadline-friday-14th-october-2016-1705318.html

Finally, we also had a committee meeting this week and welcomed Rob Judd who has taken on the role of Secretary. We welcome Juddy and thank Helen for letting us borrow him for hockey purposes !
