What a nine days ! IWHL status retained, Timperley at Lee Valley and North Finals! What a #OneClub way to end the season & there's more to come!

22nd - 30th April 2017 will go down as one of the busiest amazing periods in the Club's history with so much hockey involving so many different teams and players its been almost impossible to keep up with all the action and emotion!

#OneClub couldn't be better brought to life than over the last throws of the season and these nine days in April 2017. Take a look at what's been happening in the mad few days in April !

22nd April - 180 supporters turn out to roar the Ladies 1's on to a 7-3 victory v West Herts to secure top flight hockey at Stockport Road next season as we retain our place in the National League. Great performance on and off the pitch, especially as we had some many THC players of all ages, family, friends and other Timperley Sports Club members down as well, plus we had lots of people following on social media and some bumper 'on line traffic'

We also had four players trotting out for the North Masters games v Scotland up at Durham flying the THC flag !

27th April - 5 Timperley lads are part of the victorious Altrincham Grammar School for Boys Under 16 team that take third place in the National Schools Finals at Lee Valley. As the only state school in the finals, the squad coached by Duncan Rudge, can be very proud of their achievement. Congratulations to Harry Whittaker, Luke Holland, Oliver, Ben Entwisle and Ben Nicholson (captain).

28th April - the journey to Lee Valley begins as the North West exodus begins as players, families, partners, friends and coaches start to journey south foe the England Hockey Knock Out Finals - the club's first appearance at a senior national finals

29th April - Men's Over 50 Trophy Final - Lee Valley. Following the full international hockey tournament experience of a full squad walk out onto the pitch, photos, our Men's Over 50's took an early 2 - 0 lead v Formby after 11 minutes. The game had many twists and turns with Formby fighting back and coming out on top at the final whistle with a 4-2 including three goals from former THC player Allan Dalley! Whilst not the result we wanted Runner Up in any National competition is a major achievement and congratulations to all involved and the fantastic THC support on the day. The chaps managed to pick themselves sufficiently to have a night out that rumbled on well past the bedtime of the Ladies Over 35's !

The club also had double first with Ben Entwisle playing his first game for England Under 16's v Ulster (U17's) and Shelagh Entwisle playing for England Over 55's v Gibraltar

30th April - THC's own Super Sunday ! It was the Ladies Over 35's chance to get the full international player experience at Lee Valley from England Hockey as they took on a very youthful set of vets from Harleston Magpies, and IWHL Conference East Club from Norfolk. Whilst the result didn't go the blues way with some brilliant play by the Magpies the 8-0 scoreline certainly didn't reflect the 'never give up' attitude of the players who picked up their Investec Runner's Up medals with huge pride. The loss didn't affect the celebrations that rolled on for many of the squad well into Monday! See the Video of the Over 35's journey to Lee Valley !

Up in Leeds we also had another club double as our Under 10 Boys and Girls played in the England Hockey In2Hockey North Regional finals. Both teams handled the occasion really well and played some great hockey making their respective Finals. Sadly, both teams were pipped to being crowned North champions and came away as Runner's Up - still a major achievement and congratulations to the players, coaches and supporters. In the afternoon our Under 12 Boys also made it to the Semi Finals, loosing out to Chester who went on e crowned North Champions.

A great example of the diversity and spirit of hockey as a sport with everyone from Under 10's to Over 50's being able to compete in National competitions and wear the shirt with pride.

The Vets has certainly got the taste for Lee Valley and will want to be back and would recommend the experience as a playing highlight to any players. The North Mini's is another great experience for our young players and starts a journey for many to the highest level with four of our current Men's 1 team having played at the Under 10/12 North Finals for Timperley.

If you do facebook or twitter there are some great photos of the nine days of madness so take a look. We'll get more loaded to the website over the end of season tidy up of the site !
