A massive congratulations goes to Sarah Impey who has been over in Tilburg, in the Netherlands, taking part on the European Masters Hockey Champions with the England Over 50 squad. England we're runners up (to Holland) and Imp's comes away with another Silver Medal to add to her collection. A fantastic achievement, and experience, for Imps and was great to she she bagged a good few trade mark Imp's goals along with way too. We believe John Donnelly is competing for Wales Over 75's in the European Grand Masters this week, and Ben Jones will be playing for Pennine Puma's at Futures Cup in St Albans so great to see all ages across the club helping put Timperley on the hockey map !

So the new season is pretty much upon us so its really time to get ready and raring to go. here's some of the headlines and they'll be a BlueNotes out in the next 7-10 days with a full round up.

Last weekend those that were able to attend benefited from a fantastic day spent with Kwan Browne and Anthony Marcano - we really got a total insight into the current thinking on coaching and playing from International level to the youngest players starting the game! Huge thanks to Kwan and Anthony for finding times in their international schedules to come to the club and inspire those involved. Hopefully this will be the start of more similar events and the development of our 'Timperley Way' of playing and coaching. Thanks to everyone who came along to the player and coaching sessions - we really appreciate your support and hope you had a great time - as well as learning lots !

Tuesday Training

Tuesday 29th August will be the final session based on the pre-season coaching groups and times. So do make every effort to get down to this weeks final pre-season session.

From Tuesday 5th September the main sessions will be:

Under 16 training: 5.45pm - 7.00pm
Club Training for Men and Women: 7.00pm - 8.15pm
2/3's Training: 8.15pm - 9.45pm
1's Training Men and Women: 8.00pm - 10.00pm

Coaches will be discussing with players which training group they should attend.

Matches / Availability

Some friendlies have been arranged and League fixtures start on 16th September (Cheshire Women's Hockey League) and on the 23rd September for all other teams. Badger and Beaver games start on Saturday 9th September.

To help the smooth running of the club we need players to check the league dates / fixtures plan ahead and where possible update availability for a number of weeks in advance - and especially for know events like holidays, weddings etc ! The logistics of fielding 13 teams a week is made all the more complex by uncertainty about player availability - and as a plea for all those who give up their time to organise teams please do you bit by updating your availability and confirming you can play after selection ASAP.

The men are already up and running using the Pitchero (website) availability functionality and final arrangements are in place to get the women's and hopefully Badgers and Beavers teams up and running in the next week to ten days.

Subscriptions

No one likes the annual call that Timperley Sports Club subscriptions are due by 1st October ! TSC subs offer some of the best value for money around and we remain cheaper than many comparable local clubs (and the only one who play all their home games at home with two pitches !). TSC subs go towards the cost of running the facilities and the wider sports club. Club subs cover a whole year and all sports played at the club, and running and maintaining the pitches, clubhouse, bar and site.

To help spread the cost of the start of the season we are offering a two instalment option for those that sign up and make the first payment by Friday 15th September (on line) or Saturday 16th September (over the bar), with the final payment being due by 28th October.

More details on subs will be out next week. Member under 16 (up to year 11) MUST register and pay subs to the academy, irrespective of which teams they play for.

Kit and Mouth Guards ! Sunday 3rd September

SilverFX will be at the club 10.00am - 12.30pm for Academy Registration Day with samples of THC bespoke kit, sticks, shoes, shin pads etc and to take orders. Any items ordered on July will be delivered to the club on the 3rd September. We recommend Senior member don't come down until 11.30am to avoid the rush

Our friendly hockey loving dentist will also be at the club on 3rd September (same times) if you want a custom fit mouth guard in a range of colours at a great price.

Sunday 10th September: Club Volunteer Day - working party to hit a wide range of jobs to get the club looking its best for the winter season. 12noon - 4pm

Mid September: A Gin Tasting evening - more details to follow

Saturday 14th October: Hockey's own Oktoberfest Timperley Style ! from 7pm

Later in the Autumn the TSC Beer Festival (probably last weekend in October)
