19 games this weekend & GMJHL for the U11's - catch this weeks update & how you can help keep the hockey rolling at THC!

Scores on the doors

Last weekend was another 'curates egg' week on the results front with the Ladies 1's having one of their best performances of the season but coming away from the Ben Rhydding game with no point , the Men's 2's continued with the wins and top NWHL Division 3 and play second place Northrop Hall at 2.15 to see if they can open up a 7 point lead - comedown and support the guys ! The Ladies 4's also had a fantastic result beating top of the table Brooklands Poynton 3's.

The Men's 1 won 2-0 away at Bowdon against their 2's in the EH Tier 1 Championships and drew another local derby in the next round away to Alderley Edge on Sunday 3rd December. With both sides playing well this should be a real test following the league draw between the teams a couple of weeks ago.

Bitter Sweet moment of the week goes to the Men's 50's who fell to the curse of former THC member from the 1980's Alan Dalley who scored a hat trick in the EH Masters in the re-run of last year Lee Valley final sinking the blues 3-0. Good news is that EH has now confirmed with the Men's Over 50's will live for another day and enter the plate (tier 3 competition).

Big THC Thank You to Steve Bolton - vacancy for Vice Chair

We'd like to thank Bolt's who has stepped down from the THC Committee in his role as Vice Chair. Bolts technically stood down at last season's AGM but committed to stay in post whilst we got the season up and running and looked for a new Vice Chair.

Bolts has been a great team player on the the committee - always positive - pragmatic and cutting to the chase and nub of the issue ! Bolts also worked with Malcolm Tucker to support the bed in of our #OneClub finances following the merger of the hockey sections. Bolts has been a great support to me as Chair, a great sounding board and always helping us keep focused on the hockey too !

The Vice Chair's role is one of the most flexible roles on the committee - primarily supporting the Chair. Currently the role would be open to a male member as we have a female Chair and our approach is that the Chair and Vice Chair should be filled by a male and female member. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the running of THC and if you're interested let's have a chat - let your captain know or any of the current committee. We're keen to get new ideas and blood involved so come and have a chat, or come along to a meeting to find out more. The Committee meet monthly
Growing our own - how to get involved !

....moving on to #GrowingOurOwn - ways to get involved !

We've another really busy weekend ahead 22 teams will be pulling on THC kit . Ever wondered what's involved in fielding nearly 300 players over a weekend with 12 captains, 20 umpires (and one umpire developer), senior / academy coaches and team managers (parent's and seniors) ? Or who makes it all happen and how ?

As a large club we're delighted to have so many people involved in large and small ways in making hockey happen at Timperley - we make the club work even better we're looking to get encourage more members, supporters, parents and young leaders to get involved to help us deliver on our two key goals #GreatMatchDay and #GreatHockeyClub.

Helping out can be as simple as collecting the balls after training, putting the goals away, sharing match reports, developing our younger players, managing a team, organising tournaments and social events right through to being a captain or part of the main #OneClub THC Committee - the vast majority of support we need doesn't involve having to sit on a committee or go to meetings !

#GrowOurOwn is really important to us and we're trying to do as much as we can to support everyone who feels they can help in however a small way to make stuff happen.

We're currently finalising plans to run (and fund) courses for:
- umpiring
- coaching
- first aid
- safeguarding

and there's also lots of online support, guidance and materials for lots of other activities on and off the pitch.

Let us know if you'd be interested in one of the coures, getting involved or ideas you may have - speak to you captain, the academy team or any of the Committee (Shelagh Entwisle, Rob Judd, Kieran Jeffery, Helen Cue, Caroline Small, Nisha Sahti or Jackie Morgan) - or email us on timperleyhc@gmail.com

Nisha Sathi and the Academy team will be running some drop in seasons for academy parents to pop into the club on a Sunday, have a coffee and find out a bit more about the Academy and meet more of our #HockeyFamily.

Umpire Development

Nick Burnett our Umpire Developer is busy coaching and watching our pipeline umpires working towards their level 1 assessment. Last week Jo Robinson passed her Level 1 and we now have 23 level 1 or above umpires in the club. This is a fantastic number but we need to crack on and hit 30 + so we can share the load and fulfil all the THC umpire slots weekly. email timperleyhc@gmail.com if you're interested in getting involved - for academy or senior games or both.

....and finally back to the hockey !

Good luck to all teams this weekend - lots to play for for all teams. 19 games and GMJHL - we've 7 home games on Saturday and 2 Lacrosse games so be aware the changing rooms will be busy !
