Cheshire Mini's

Good luck to all our under 10 and 12 boys and girls - playing in today's Cheshire Mini's the regional round of the England Hockey In"Hockey (7 a-side) championships. Well done to all those players selected - and its a reflection of the great work done by all involved in the academy that we have to do selection at this age due to the number of talented young players at the Club. If players missed out on the squads this year we have lots of hockey coming up with our next under 10's Tournament at the club on 24th March and the GMJHL for U10,11 and 13.

Thanks to all the coaches and parent managers who have given up additional time to support the squads prepare for today's tournaments and our umpires and supporters. We've had great success at the Cheshire and North Regional's Mini's in the past and four Men's 1 players playing in yesterdays match all started out at this tournament so it really if where #homegrown players start their journeys. The standard also improves year on year and we hope that everyone - will focus on the performance and enjoyment of players not the results alone. We look forward to hearing how the teams got on and hope that we may be able to replicate the marvelous success of 2018 when we had three teams at the North Regional Finals.

Hockey round up

Sadly the road to Lee valley ended last Sunday for the Ladies Over 35's as they narrowly missed on on progressing in the competition after a fantastic end to end game verses Sutton Coldfield. The Men's Over 50's play today v City of York and are looking to continue the journey to hopefully their third final in three years. The mixed have drawn Ben Rhydding at home on Sunday 17th March 1pm push back so that will be one not to miss ! The Under 14 Boys are through to the regional round of the tier 1 competition and we await to hear for the other academy teams as the EH information isn't that clear on regional rounds !

In the League the Men's North Premier final promotion places to the expanded National League will be going all the way to the final games over the next three weekends. The Men's 1 lost 3-2 to in form second place Deeside yesterday and dropped to 5th place behind Brooklands 2 by 1 point. But it all hots up over the next two fixtures as Timperley place Formby and Whitley Bay and Brooklands pay table toppers Wakefield and Deeside.

The Men's 2's won again yesterday to open up a three point gap on Flyde who lost to third place Wilmslow. Still all to play for again as this one will go to the wire. Good news is we are pretty sure that the Ladies 2 have secured their spot in the new North Division being slotted in about Division 2 feeder division's (our current division) - congratulations to the squad, Imps and coach Mark Talbot. The Ladies 1 also put in another good performance v Leicester who came down to North Conference from the Prem this season and currently in second place. A goal from Dana saw the scores level 1 - 1 at Half Time and the real progress being made. The games ended 3-1 to Leicester but it was a real step forward to really push such a strong composed and experienced team to have t really fight for their three points.

All things hockey !

This weeks hockey committee meeting spent time reviewing the excellent work by Steve Davies to help prepare our ClubMark re-accreditation documentation and evidence information. We'll now ready to submit and we thanks everyone for their help in enabling us to do this.

The committee are also delighted to announce that Jo Robinson has been co-opted as Ladies Club Captain from 16th March to take over from Cuey and help plan the pre-season. Like all the hockey committee posts, this role will be opened up again prior to the Hockey AGM on 12th May and nominees elected at this time.

We thank Jo for stepping up to the role and building on Cuey's work. Jo has played in a number of Timperley teams, has coached in the Academy for many years and also have experience to bring from involvement with Moss Park HC over a number of years. If anyone else is interested in Ladies Club Captain or any other roles please contact Shelagh Entwisle. Next week we'll be sharing more about the ways you can help make hockey happen at Timperley as....

.....No Volunteers to make things happen at all levels = NO HOCKEY
