Wrap up warm for the weekend -we're on weather alert ! Catch up all the news & don't forget to bring your Tombola Donations this weekend !

Hockey, Snow, Frost and Ice !

This weekend will be the first widespread test this season of how of well Hockey and Weather mixes ! So pray for pitches around the North West not freezing and keeping the snow on the turf to a minimum !

We'll do doing pitch inspection at THC on both days this weekend. Salt is going down on the pitches today to see if we can help reduce the impact of the frost / snow but this isn't a guaranteed solution but it should give us a better chance of playing.

So if playing in matches, tournaments or going to Academy training make sure you check on: website, twitter, facebook and team message whats app's or for messages from captains or the academy to confirm if your match / training is on.

Away matches - Captains and Managers will be checking with opposition with the time of their pitch inspections and update before we travel. IF TRAVELLING DIRECT - its your responsibility to check in with captains / parents manager before you travel !

If games are on layer up and come prepared for a chilly day ! If league games are cancelled captains will be working with the opposition to reschedule the games as soon as possible so please respond on availability requests promptly.

The only matches guaranteed this weekend are the Boys Under 18's who are off to Bradford, and the Ladies 1's who are both off to their Regional Indoor Tournaments.

THC Academy Newsletter - December 2017

....and finally a little bit of hockey !

A mixed weekend for our England Hockey Championship hopes last week - the Ladies 1 narrowly lost to local rivals Brooklands Poynton 0-1 in the Tier 1 Cup and the Men's 1 found a much more promising performance against Alderley Edge going down 5-3 but showing a great bounce back after the league defeat against a strengthened Bowdon side on Saturday.

The Ladies Over 35's are through to the next round of the Tier 2 Master Competition with a 1 - 0 win over a youthful Didsbury Northern side with Caroline Small converting a flick to secure the win. Next round will be another local derby v Sale Over 35's on Sunday 21st January.

Out other 2017 Finalists - the Men's Over 50's conquered the graveyard 4.30pm slot away at down to come away with a win and place in the the next round draw due out this week in the Tier 3 competition.

The Girls Under 18's had a great day out in their first ever Indoor Tournament and whilst the results didn't go out way the girls really started to get into indoor and showed good promise for the future. They'll be back again next year and thanks to coach and chief motivator Sarah Chancellor.

All the Indoor Sides have benefits from a generous donation from former Club member from the 1960's John Jordan who donation towards hockey development has this year helped fund indoor sticks and equipment, coaching and facility hire. A big thank you to John for his support of the next generation.
