Catch up with this week at THC and what's coming up ! A big thanks to everyone who paid their subs - enjoy your hockey this weekend !

Another busy week at the Club as the season gets into full flight ! Here's our weekly round-up!

The Ladies 1's have their first home National League Investec Women's Hockey League (North Conference) on Saturday 6th October at 12.30pm v Ben Rhydding - please do try and pop down to support the girls for some of all of the match! Our friendly match day stewards - Ruth Evans and Angela George are back on the gate with the programmes, raffle tickets and a bottle of something for the prize draw ! Thanks to Ruth and Angela, as former players, helping us make match days special.

This is the first home game for the girls since 1st September - the long hard yards put in on the pitch and the 850 miles plus of driving to games in September paid off last weekend as the girls took a fluid and intense game to Sutton Coldfield and came out on top with three goals, three points (wining 3-1) and with three smiling National League debutantes - new members Dana Bettany, Beth Crowther and #Homegrown Alex Mulligan

The Men's 1 showed what it takes to never give up in their home game v City of York coming back from 2-4 down with six minutes to go to draw 4 - 4. The game has cause a mini stir on social media for hockey badgers and watchers the with video 'goal or no goal' ! Take a look and see what you think ! https://twitter.com/i/status/1047046301802799105 or take a look on @timperleyhockey on facebook

With over 5,000 views across social media already its creating lots of healthy debate on if the ball crossed the line or not - the video isn't aiming to criticise the umpiring (as some have interpreted) but to get the clip out there and get people talking about hockey !
The clip's got a way to go to match the 18,000+ video another THC classic video clip has achieved for how to defend a penalty corner https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LE1opgKxsRI

The Men's 1's have a short trip to Oxton this weekend and we have eight home games (with the Beavers off site at Loreto School). As well as the ladies 1's IWHL game we have both 2nd XI's at home, three teams playing Deeside Ramblers and as some are touting the game of the day at 4.30pm on the green pitch the Men's 6s v Men's 5s! On Sunday our Under 13 boys and girls head to the Armitage Centre for the GMJHL.

Thanks to this Saturday's Match Day Sponsor - Nigel Stanhope, Broomedge Farm, Lymm who has a full range of dried wood and coal for sale ready for the cold winter nights ! Nigel will also be sponsoring a game in early November and taking orders for his festive turkeys !

The Club also hosted an LX North hockey match this week, organised by our own 70+ player John Donnelly. One of the visiting club players brought along his fathers old wooden stick from 1925 and link to a little bit of club history. Our visitor's father was G F Rowbotham - who we honour in the clubhouse with a photograph to mark him playing for England in 1925 with two other Timperley Players - his son, Hugo, was most touched that the Club has a photo of his father on display and has kindly donated the stick used in the 1925 international match to the club. As one of the oldest club's in the North of England we have a long and rich history so do take time to look at some of the photo's and snippets of our history scattered around the clubhouse walls.

Moving on to other news and the week ahead !

Congratulations Corner !

We send best wishes to Jim 'Flo' Rutherford who is getting married this weekend - as he cements his reputation of not being a real hockey player but marrying in the season ! We are also glad to report Flo seems to have remained injury free prior to the Wedding.

New Men's 3's Captain, Tony Ormandy, is following waiting patiently for the arrival of his new baby now overdue, and send best wishes for the pending birth and arrival of another hockey player hopefully to bolster the section's Academy from 2023 !

We also send congratulations to James Mazarelo, from AGSB and Bowdon HC who makes his GB Under 21 debut this weekend in Malaysia at the age of 17. Many players at the club play with James for AGSB and in the single system and we wish him all the best for the U21 tournament.

Finally, there are a handful of Faulty Towers Tickets available for Friday 12th October and the 13th is now a sell out. Advance notice - look out for the notices in the club as on the 13th October the bar will need to be cleared in advance of the performance and for when guests arrive. It will re-open once the event is under way. All home teams are asked to support the club staff with the turn around and clearing of the bar when required and remove kit from the main bar are and entrance.

Enjoy the weekend's hockey !
