Catch up on this weeks news, news from last weekends games and all the news from our first big EH Sunday of the season

Another really busy weekend's hockey last week with 13 games on Saturday and six EH Cup games on Sunday - with players, coaches, umpires and managers the weekends hockey involved organising 250+ people over two days. This is all done by our band of patient and commitment volunteers and we thank everyone involved for enabling so much hockey to be played and to the club staff and Kerri too.

The Men's 1's were on fire on Saturday with their largest win for a good while with a 9 - 3 victory against Formby with goals from Jack Entwisle (3) Akeem Rudder (3) Luke Foo (2) and Connor Miller (1) - with a pre 7am start for the trip to Whitley Bay for a 12noon push back lets hope the lads are as goal happy up in the North East this weekend. Win's for both Ladies 2's and Men's 2's who remain unbeaten rattled in a mere 7 goals v. Didsbury Northern. Both Men's teams are sitting nicely in second in their respective divisions. The other high scoring game of the day was a 6 - 3 for the Men's 6's v Bowdon 7's .

Another hard trip on the road for the ladies 1's who headed to Durham University and played some fast and flowing hockey during the game and made strides forward bouncing back from the Flyde game. AJ had an outstanding game in goal and the Blues, and with two blues goals disallowed, and flick conceded the 4-0 loss didn't reflect the game and again demonstrated in the National League how narrow the margins can be. The girls go again this Saturday at home to Belper 12.30pm push back and will be pulling all the stops out for their first home win of the season.

EH Round up

Sunday was our first big EH Championship Sunday of the season with four home games and some great Sunday support for all teams.

In the knock out competitions the Women's Over 45's turned on the champagne hockey to beat Driffield 6 - 2 including a hat trick for Sarah Impey. Progressing now to the last 16 of the Tier 1 competition the girls have another home drawn on Sunday 25th November v local rivals Alderley Edge. The newly formed Men's Over 40's had a hard day at the office drawing 2 -2 with Chester but won the day in the shoot out coming out over 5 - 3 winners. They have also got a home draw on 25th November v South Wirral. Not such a good day for the Under 18 girls who came out the losers verses and impressive Bowdon side in Tier 1, and have drawn Flyde away on 18th November in Tier 2.

In the round robin regional championships the Under 14 girls drew 1 - 1 with a well organised Carlisle side after nearer snatching the winner from a Penalty Corner in deadline but it wasn't to be. The Boys Under 16 , coached by Akeem, built on the performance in the last group game and came our 3 - 0 victors over Wlmslow. The Girls Under 16's came out on the wrong end of the result away to Alderley Edge. There was disappointment for the Under 14 boys who should have been away at Harrogate in Tier 1 but sadly the opposition have withdrawn from the competition.

We go again this week with the Men's Over 50's starting their campaign for more silverware and a third final in three seasons - the men push back at 1.01pm this Sunday v Wakefield. This game is followed by the Ladies 1 v Wakefield in their Tier 1 EH match at 2.30pm (to be played at Timperley as Wakefield had no pitches available). Come down and support the EH teams on Sunday. There will be a minutes silence before each game.
