Winning ways have started early with our Women's O30's picking up the first EH silverware of the season plus World Cup madness !

We lifted our first silverware of the season at a baking hot Old Loughtonians HC in London on Saturday 28th July as our over 30's led by Cath Thompson lifted the inaugural England Hockey Summer Championship Tier 1 silver salver ! The Club's first Tier 1 success following on the Men's Over 50's Tier 3 win back in April.

Congratulations to all who have been involved in this campaign who have played, coached, managed, driven and supported Cath, Leonnie and the girls ! A Great achievement and a fair few miles under the girls belts with away games at Neston and Newcastle Upon Tyne, a home game v Bridgenorth and the trip to London for the Finals. It was also touching to see the girls wearing black, red and white Trinidad and Tobago ribbons on their shoes in memory of Kwasi and bringing home the win for him.

The final set up local team Wapping to make the short hope to Chigwell to the splendid facilities at Old Loughtonians HC, and the blue pitches certainly brought Timplerley some extra special good luck. A tense with half finished 1 - 1 after the Blues equalised through Sarah Capel (finding the net at her old club !) after trailing 0-1 and following in the footsteps of the England Senior team and being unable to convert from Penalty Corners until Sarah broke the deadlock.

Focus and application at Half Time with Savs coaching the squad and lots of liquids saw a step up for the second half with the Blues finishing the day convincing 4 - 2 winners ! Time for the presentations, photo's, medals and a grand salver and the girls buoyed up by the win made their way to Lee Valley for the evening session of the Vitality Women's World Cup courtesy of complimentary tickets from England Hockey. Victorious captain Cath even made it on the pitch as part of the entertainment in the Jaffa 'hamster ball' challenge !

A great start to the season and now time to tidy up the club trophy cabinet and find room for the first silverware of the season ! Over the next few weeks we'll be finalising with EH competitions to enter for 2018-19 for all ages in the new tiered format. If teams or players in the Master's age groups are interested let your Club Captain Cuey or Kieran know over the next couple of week's. For the Academy we'll be reviewing against the number of players in each age group too

League season beckons !

Good turnout at the first Club Training Session of the season last Tuesday with Mark Talbot taking his first session with the women and Jamie Buxton helping out with the Men's session to cover for holidays.

Come down this week 7pm for club training to 8.30pm - all welcome old and new players on the green pitch. Performance Squad training is on the blue pitch from 7.30pm.

This week we also start Fit Hit sessions with Rick Poole - open to all (aged 14+) - click on the news items for full details - timing and charges.

We're finalising friendly fixtures and these will be shared shortly - for Cheshire Players please be aware that the Cheshire Women's Hockey League starts on Saturday 8th September. Fixtures will be loaded up shortly for all teams including Badgers and Beavers - and we are running two Badgers teams this season.

Subscriptions 2018-19

More information on TSC Subs, ways to pay, spreading the costs over a number of installments and information will follow hopefully this week - including online payment options. All players have have the opportunity to play hockey almost constantly since May with Summer League and now pre-season has started and subs go towards the running of the club, pitches, clubhouse, facilities and should not be seen as something linked just to league hockey !

We're also awaiting news of a grant application we've made in early July to made some big improvements to the Blue Pitch as an early phase of work for Project 18 including floodlighting. Once we hear the response we'll be updating members and ways to help make these exciting plans happen !

The Committee also met and confirmed this week that Match Fees will remain unchanged for the 2018 - 19 season

- Senior Hockey (Full) - £10 per match / tournament
- Senior Hockey (concessions, student, unemployed, U18) - £5 per match / tournament
- Academy Hockey (Under 16) - £3 per match / tournament

There has been a small increase to TSC subs - a full playing sub is now £170 and £70 for Under 18's (and variations for other types of membership.

It was also agreed that there will be no charge to the Academy Training Fee charged on top of the TSC Subscription.

Full details will follow over the next week to 10 days

World Cup Update

Not sure anyone will top Cath Thompson's appearance on the Lee valley Pitch ! But with a number of THC members making the trip down to Lee Valley for the World Cup keep a look out on the TV for any more half time entertainment stars, or media appearances - last week Will Tobin was spotted in the Fan Zone on BT Sport sporting nice Australia Shirt ! Keep your eye's peeled on the Telly or social media for all those THC visitors !

Don't forget the games will be shown at the Club on BT Sport - England need every bit of support possible to get through to the Quarter Finals Play Off's so don't miss out. Games are on BT Sport and the coverage is excellent - or you can listen on Radio 5 Live (Sport Extra ? So if you've not got BT Sport get down the to club !

There are some highlights from each day on the FIH YouTube site so that's one to look at too including all the goals from each day https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuyGVxpiODzxLvt4XSzJ8Fygiaj3V76HU

Let's get another good turnout at Tuesday training and Fit Hit and finger crossed England Women get into the groove and dig deep to get as far as they can in the World Cup.
