Support the M1 & M2's, farewell to Ruddz, toast another season, grab the last few dinner tickets & catch up on this weeks news!

It’s the last weekend of the league season and for the Men's 1s and Men's 2s it's all come down to the final (re-arranged) games to close out the season and achieve our objective of promotion for both teams ! There's also lots more happening and dates for the diary too and some very special news at the end of this weeks update that may explain Men's Club Captains disappearing act (and potentially the missing M3 match sheet!)

This week's photo by the hugely talented https://danvernonphotography.com/ sums up that hockey feeling when you come off the pitch after a win ! Akeem Rudder (Ruddz) our visiting Barbados International bids us farewell on Monday and we'd like to thank Akeem for all he's given to the club from.... coaching our young players, inspiring the teams he's coaches to great performances including the U16 boys, to umpiring, his Weather Girls tribute, bringing Caribbean style aerobics/ fitness to Timperley and of course his contribution to the Men's 1s on and off the pitch and of course some sublime goals too ! We wish you all the best for the future and completing your University studies back in Barbados and here's to a farewell hat trick or two on Saturday!

All down to the wire .....support the teams in this Saturday's big games !

If ever there was a day for some loud and proud Timperley support its this Saturday ! Come down and support the Blues for one more time this league season !

The day starts at 12.15pm (Blue Pitch) with Men's 2's v Fylde - both already promoted the match is to see who takes the honours as NWHL Division 2 Champions ! Come down and support Ross and the lads and coach Noel in whats should be a cracking match. Sitting 3 points clear of Flyde a point will bring home the trophy for THC - but having exceeded 100 league goals for the season last weekend the lads are bound to be wanting to add more to the tally and give the new scoreboard a real work out !

2.00pm (Blue Pitch) its the Ladies 1's v Brooklands-Poynton and after hitting the backboard three times last week the girls are looking to end the season as they started with a win. What better game to bring the improving performances week by week since Xmas to a satisfying end than with a win over local rivals Brooky. All support welcome.

The Men's 1's celebrations were put on the back burner last Saturday after Brooklands scored a late equaliser against Wakefield to close the gap with THC back to three points. So its all to play for this week as we go again. We need to get as much support as possible down the Armitage Centre to support the lads and Albert and be the 12th player in this season finale.

2.00pm Push Back Didsbury Northern 1 v Timperley - Armitage Centre, Manchester Uni Sports Centre, Fallowfield. One more game and we go again - one more point will secure promotion but lets go out in style and grab all three. Good Luck to all involved and if you're playing or can't get down to support come down the Club for a few drinks later in the day !

Good luck to the Men's 3 - 6's also playing their last league games of the season and to our Beavers and academy teams playing a touring Scottish school's teams on the green pitch from 1.45pm

More EH hockey news

Congratulations to the Mixed XI who also left it to the wire going to penalty flicks last Sunday v Ben Rhydding to gain a place in the Quarter Finals of the EH Tier 1 Championships. The QF is away on 7th April v Oxton.

The Boys Under 14 came up against tough opposition in the Tier 1 North Regionals at Repton. Although the results weren't to go the lads way their determination and ability to bounce back after conceding will stand them in good stead for their hockey careers. Grow strong together, keep training, listening, learning and enjoying your hockey. Meanwhile the Under 16 Boys have also reached he regional finals for the EH U16 Tier 2 competition next weekend and we wish them well too. The girls Under 14 also had a tough game losing to Fylde and it was great to see the under 10 Boys out training on Tuesday ahead of their North Regional Finals next weekend.

Home Grown ...and a few farewells !

This weekend is also the final league weekend for many of our young players who will be heading off to University in September. Many have been at the Club since they were five years old, we've seen tears, joy, wins, draws, losses and a whole load of life with so many young players and their families ! We wish them all the best for the future and hope they will keep playing and loving hockey and come back to the club when ever they can and re-join if returning to the North West. We hope we've given you all a great experience of what it means to be part of a #hockeyfamily and #greathockeyclub.

Thanks again Ruth for your support and generosity in your second match day sponsorship of the season.

....and finally this week, when there's been a hunt on for a missing M3 match sheet, we may have uncovered the reason that Kieran our Men's Club Captain,Men's 3's Captain, Fixture Secretary and Chief Tea's Orderer may have had other things on his mind. As well as managing to go swimming with his phone whilst on holiday in Ski Lanka he's only gone and got married too ! We'd like to send Kieran and Nat all our best wishes for the future and congratulate them on their wedding and look forward to seeing them on their return to toast and celebrate this lovely news to end the league season !
