Summer 2017 will certainly be our busiest pre- season in living memory !
Since announcing our full pre-season coaching programme in mid June we've added some additional events to the schedule - to add to all the core hockey available - see below the key additions
To fly the THC Flag and continued to work on raising our profile and awareness, hockey were part of the Timperley Sports Club #OneClubFourSports Float in this year's Altrincham Festival Parade on Saturday 1st July. We had a great turnout from hockey, along with football, lacrosse and cricket to get the clubs name out into the local community. Huge thanks go to Sarah Manson who spearheaded the hockey organisation and Jo Nicholson, Ruth Brown and Shelagh Entwisle who were part of the cross section organising team. Thanks also to Simon Jones and Tim Small for their help with banners and to the bar staff for letting us borrow a little bit of the bar to take on the float !
Here's some of our pre-season activities planned in additional to the coaching programme:
Fit Hit - every Thursday until 27th July . Meet at the Club at 7.15pm or at the play for 7.25pm near King George V pool (off Urban / Wellman Road). Numbers have been disappointing so we hope once Summer League finishes on 12th July that numbers will pick up for the final sessions
Pre Season Social with a difference, Alan Bates, Comedy Hypnotist, comes to Timperley on Friday 7th July - all welcome, don't miss out !http://http://www.timperleyhockeyclub.com/news/pre-season-social-with-a-difference-friday-7th-jul-1849503.html
Sunday 9th July - Our Mixed 7's Tournament not only do we have 14 teams but we also have One Hockey Warehouse bringing a trailer full of hockey stuff, sticks, shoes and hockey accessories - so what better opportunity to get geared up for the season.
Sarah Chancellor has done a fab job on organising the day - not its just to sort the Timperley teams out !
Masterclass details are being finalised with Kwan Browne for the 20th / 21st August as part of our series of coaching and international masterclasses. Outline details are on the News page of the website and we'll be launching full details soon.
Summer Hockey Camps are back for our younger members - open to all.
See news item for full details
1st to 3rd August
14th to 16th August
29th to 31st August
Its also been a really busy time at the Club with:
- Faulty Towers proving a real success with all those that attended and the hockey crowd seemed to particularly enjoy the entertainment and enter the spirit of the evening !
- Any Sports Questions was another brilliant night with a fab panel - it a pity more people weren't able to make it and if we do one again this is a real don't miss event if you're a sports fan. Hockey also cleaned up on 3 of the fantastic donated prizes with Mike Carson, Rob Judd and one of our hockey parents cleaning up with the hospitality tickets and signed Dame Sarah Story cycling jersey.
- Nick Burnett will also be hosting an Old Boys / Former Members lunch on Friday 7th July - always a popular event
Alongside all the social whirl we're also pressing on the the planning and pre season administration and at this weeks Committee meeting approved the final 2016-17 Accounts ad we are pleased to report a small surplus of c £3,000 (as few more items still to be paid for) . As part of pre-season communications and updates we'll be putting together some 'bite size' information to help members see and understand where there subs and TSC match fees and fun-raising. We also agreed out 2017-18 budget - including no increase to match fees. There is a small increase in TSC subs - the first for a number of years. More details next time - including ways to sign up to pay in instalments.
Finally, we also have a SilverFX Kit Delivery due this week - we will be in touch to confirm collection arrangements for those that are having orders delivered to the club. The Next Order deadline is 23rd July - ready for delivery on 3rd September.
Enjoy pre season and do try take part in some of the activity and events planned
