Don some pink & support #PaintAltrinchamPink, raise a glass to a club stalwart, grab a THC kit bargain & catch up with the EH Cup drama!

With the sun back out and spring in the air we're now in the final run in for most team's league seasons. This weekend we've a full men's programme, three re-arranged Ladies matches from the frozen off week, plus the Ladies 1's v Leeds at 2.15pm as our headline home match. We've also our first Under 10's mini tournament of 2019 on Sunday and an unexpected cup game on Sunday !

Last weekend the Ladies 1's took great strides forward in re-booting performances and came away from Fylde unlucky not to take one if not three points, losing 1 - 0. The Men's 1 suffered a small blip too going down 2-1 away at City of York but remain 4th in North Premier and remain 8 points ahead of Brooklands in 5th who could only manage a draw. A big game away this weekend at Wakefield for the M1s and the Men's 2's will also be on track to get back to winning ways in their home time v Leigh Manchester at 12.30pm after last weeks 3 - 3 draw. The M2 remain top of NWHL Division 2 on Goal Difference from Fylde and I'm sure coach Ed Stropek will be looking to add to our +54 GD.

The Ladies 2's also won last week and remain in the promotion places in 6th place in North Div 2 (SW) after a solid 2 - 0 win against Sale and keep a four point buffer from Bolton in 7th place. This week the L2's head to Wrexham - ignore on Fixtures Live this says its a home game - its definitely in Wales ! Only other win last weekend went to the Ladies 5s who turned the tables to smash and grab a 1 - 0 win verses Bowdon and pick up the points !

Good luck to all teams this weekend and thank you to all players, umpires, coaches and managers who have been flexible and helping us manage through the challenges of half term availability.

We also had our first proper taste of Caribbean style soca aerobics fitness sessions this Thursday with Akeem - we've a few places left so why not come along next week ready to start at 7.30pm £4 for members. Bring a water bottle and a small towel too !

Big Thank You to Cuey

This week our feature photo is of our ever present Ladies Club Captain - Helen Cue (Cuey) with our hockey mad turtles Tim and Perley. Cuey has decided to step down from her role as Ladies Club Captain from 15th March and give time for the new role holder to get fully involved in the pre-season planning for 2019-20 season that will start in April.

We thank Cuey for the huge contribution she mas made to hockey at Timperley in her most recent role - Ladies Club Captain - and the key role she has played in helping guide us in our first few season's as a National League Club and, at a time of growth in senior player numbers and what feels like a plethora of rules, regulations and spreadsheets to manage five teams across three different leagues (National League, North and Cheshire). Cuey has been a member of the Club for around 30 years and has held a multitude of TSC and THC roles over the year including Ladies Hockey Chair before we merged the hockey sections and is an Honorary Life Member of Timperley Sports Club for services to TSC and a hockey Vice President. Cuey is one of the people who has been giving to hockey and the club year after year - and has pretty much seen it all over the years !

We hope Cuey, and partner Rob, will enjoy getting some time back from the many hours gobbled up by hockey organisation, meetings and just keeping the wheels turning week in week out to make hockey happen for so many. We will of course be thanking Cuey more formally at the hockey AGM coming up in May and we hop she'll enjoy her continued time at the club and on (and off) the pitch. Thanks Cuey from everyone at THC for your huge contribution to the section over the last few seasons - you've made an immense contribution to helping us morph from stand along sections to #oneclub and been an excellent host of hockey committee meetings too !

#PaintAlthinchamPink - turn training pink this week !

Help support and raise awareness for Prevent Breast Cancer by wearing pink to training on Sunday 24th February and 3rd March (academy) and Tuesday 26th February (all sessions). There are collecting tins on the bar so if you can make a donation it will be much appreciated. Dig out your Pink TSC T-Shirt from last year or pick up a new one from the bar - minimum donation £5 to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Teams may also want to wear pink for pre match warm ups too during Paint Altrincham Pink Week over this weekend and next.

Latest EH Championships news !

An interesting week on the EH competitions front ! Congratulations to (injured) captain Col Taylor and the Men's Over 50's who pulled it out of the bag to beat old foes Formby 3-1 to reach the Quarter Finals of Tier 2 - and have been drawn away to City of York HC on 10th March - so just two games from Lee Valley now ! The Men's Over 50's also get the award for the latest team to leave the club after their celebrating their win in the bar late into the evening !

The Mixed XI were delighted to actually get a game having not even got to play in the last two rounds as the opposition conceded so a nice day out on the Wirral gave the squad their first outing of the campaign coming out 7-1 victors verses Neston. Just when they've got their shooting boots on the Mixed have been drawn a 'bye' in Round 4 and roll into Round 5 (last 16).

Surprise of the week came in the form of an email from EH confirming that the Ladies 2 had been reinstated in the Tier 2 competition following last round opponents Vikings (IofM) fielded an ineligible player. So the Ladies 2 play Bowdon at home this Sunday (23rd) 2.30pm push back - so let's get a good crowd down for this local cup derby game !

Good luck also to the Boy's Under 16 who are playing their rearranged EH Championship game v Chester U16 on Friday 1st March at 7.15pm at the club.

Finally, this week we are delighted to have a true club stalwart, Ruth Evans as our Match Day Sponsor. Ruth has been involved at Timperley as a player, committee member, ladies hockey chair as well as TSC roles including formerly as Club President and Trustee. It is especially pleasing that Ruth has re-connected with ladies hockey in recent season's and take on the role of match day steward - and she'll be down this Saturday for the Ladies National League North Conference match v Leeds 2.15pm push back.

We thank Ruth for her donation and for keeping us in line with all the England Hockey National League standards and rules along with her partner in crime on the gate Angela George. Thanks Ladies !
