Mega busy weekend ahead - 20 teams hitting the turf, the new bobble hats land, one new whistler & great news from the Co-op local causes scheme

Great news this week as we have had confirmation that the final sum to be paid to Timperley Hockey Club by the Co-op as part of its sharing of £19m to local causes is £3250.82. Thank you to everyone that shopped at the Co-op and has used their Co-op membership card over the last 12 months to help raise these hugely valuable funds to us. We applied to the scheme to gain support for our #GrowOurOwnVolunteers programmes to support developing out volunteers.

....all about the hockey !

Congratulations to the Men's 2's and returning coach Ed Stropek who remain the only unbeaten senior team this season after a 3-3 draw after at Fylde last Saturday - the gents have been pipped by the Under 11 Girls A team who have a 100% win record from their GMJHL games, and the Under 11 boys also are undefeated but with two draws.

Last Saturday's 1's double header was full of all the wrong kind of drama as the Ladies 1 were on the wrong end of Fylde finding their shooting boots and the Men lost their first game of the season 2-3 against Didsbury Northern after an event filled game that will be discussed for many years to come I'm sure.

The Ladies 1 head north and re-group against Durham University and the Men's 1's are focused to bounce back in the 12.30pm home game v Formby - please come down and support the home teams. The Cheshire Women's league restarts this week and we have six England Hockey Championships games on Sunday

Women's Over 45 v Driffield 13:00 (H)
Under 14 Girls v Carlisle 13:00 (H)
Under 16 Girls v Alderley Edge 13:30 (A
Under 18 Girls v Bowdon 14:30 (H)
Under 16 Boys v Wilmslow 14:30 (H)
Men's Over 40's v Chester (A)
Boys Under 14 v Harrogate (A) - cancelled as harrogage have withdrawn

The Women's Over 35's also have a friendly v Didsbury in preparation for their upcoming cup game. Thanks to all our captains, players, umpires, coaches, and parent managers as fielding 20 teams over a weekend is no small feat ! Good luck to all teams

Next Sunday, 11th November, we've another EH Sunday with a double header against Wakefield with the Men's Over 50's playing at 13:00 followed by the Ladies 1 at 14:30 (this game has been reversed as Wakefield don't have a pitch)

Wear our club colours with pride !

Just as the weather's getting a bit nippy we've received the latest delivery of new Timperley Hockey Bobble hats available in Blue of Black. We've 50 hats in this order and 11 have sold this on Friday evening so follow the link and find how to get your hands on a hat, club tie and update on kit

.....Save the dates

Budding singers and entertainers is also time to start planning your 'acts' for Timperley's very own 'Stars in their Eyes' evening on Saturday 26th January 2019 - the number of acts with be limited so don't miss out get your name to Vicky Lomas or Ross Small now !

Big thanks to Pat Marsden and his mates for a great evening of live music last Saturday at the club and good to see a few hockey folks down supporting Pat and bar sales !

.....another whistler joins the fold of Level 1 assessed umpires !

Congratulations to Akeem Rudder, our visiting International from Barbados, who this week passed his EH Level 1 Umpire Assessment whistling for one of the regular Salford University games played at the club on Wednesday afternoons. Akeem's taken to umpiring like a duck to water and along with coaching the under 13 and 16 boys, and as a regular at academy coaching on a Tuesday and Sunday. Well done Akeem

Nick Burnett is also busy as our lead umpire developer mentoring a number of our Level 1 (unassessed) umpires who are getting those early minutes of whistling experience under their belts. Great to see Cuey, Craig Burgess and Ben Entwisle umpiring recent games.

We'd like to remind everyone who has attended an EH umpiring course (paid for by THC) that we need you to start to get involved and umpiring some of the academy games to start with - even if you do not wish to be assessed. The club spend nearly £600 on umpire development last year and we really need to get more attendees into the system to help umpire games. We have games of all standards from 7 a side Under 11,13 and 15 games on Sunday to Beavers and Badgers on Saturday's and through to senior games.

if you receive the weekly umpiring emails from Will Reynolds (umpiring co-ordinator) whether assessed or unassessed please let Will know which games you can help out with and help the self help of making hockey happen each week for all ages. Will can then work with you to slot you into games that best meet what works for you.
