The season may be over but there's still lots happening and lots of opportunities for social hockey and lots going on this week ! The Academy is back in action this Sunday 8th April - but don't forget the Manchester Marathon will be going past the club and Stockport Road will be closed. Please give extra time to get to the club, come on foot or bike and it coming by car please use the Wood Lane entrance. Good luck to all TSC members and family taking part.

Tournaments

The popular #OneCLub Social Mixed 7's is back on Sunday 13th May meet time 1.30pm. We set this internal mixed 7's tournament up when we merged a couple of seasons ago and its been a real hit with all involved. Its a great way to meet folks from across the section and we will be organising teams in advance to mix up players of all ages / from across all teams. Its been a real highlight to see 1st Team players along side the Vets, or 5th / 6th Team Players along with some of our budding academy players all in one team - proper #hockeyfamily stuff !

To make this tournament work we need names in advance to sort the teams so please sign up via the Doodle Poll if you can come along. Meet time 1.30pm to introduce teams, then we'll play through til about 4pm. The Tournament will be followed by some food and the 2018 Hockey AGM.

Our other Summer Hockey Tournaments and Summer League's are more popular than every this year. All our organisers have been delighted with the response from other clubs. There will be Timperley teams involved too so make sure you contact the organiser to find out more about the Timperley teams - or step up and offer to organise a team or help with the organisation.

Saturday 21st April - Men's 11 a side tournament (lower NWHL team) - currently looking like 12 teams + Timperley sides

Tuesday's from 15th May - Ladies 7's Summer League - looks like a sell out with 18 teams (including 3 Timperley teams)

Wednesday's from 16th May - Men's Summer League - 8 teams signed up plus Timperley teams to add. We've only one pitch for more of the evening so we're more limited on the number teams. Will Tobin will be organising the league so let Will know if you can help on the night.

Trophies - senior and academy

Its that time of year again ! If you were a winner of a perpetual THC trophy last season please can you return it to Nisha (Academy), Cuey (Ladies) or Kieran (Men) as soon as possible - ideally cleaned !

Senior Trophies (well the majority!) will be presented at the 2018 Dinner on 20th April and Academy Trophies at presentation day on Sunday 13th May 2018.

Please note the Club Committee Room has been cleared out - ready to use form more hires. So please don't leave or 'dump' items in the room as they will be cleared out ! If you have a meeting please contact Sam or Jane at the Club to booked the Committee Room.

Changes to the National League from 2019/20

Behind the scenes there has been significant consultation and meetings about the future structure of the English National Hockey Leagues (Men's and Women). Thanks to the coaches, captains and committee members who fed into the Timperley response to the consultation. The outcome is that the respective National Leagues will increase from 40 teams to 60 from 2019-20 season.

The changes present a number of opportunities for THC and we will be considering these for both 1st teams as part of the end of season reviews and planning and prioritisation for next season.

Data data and a bit more data !

No one can have missed that virtually every organisation that has your data on file is currently contacting people in response to the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018. This affects THC (and TSC) too and we're finalising our communications and processes and will be contacting members shortly. We encourage all members to sign up to both the THC website (run on the Pitchero platform) so that you can maintain and control your data and preferences. The more THC members who do this the less we need reply maintaining other contact lists to keep in contact.

Some people have also signed up a couple of times on the THC Pitchero site so we'll be aiming to tidy up the membership details on the site over coming weeks. Please help us do this but going on to your profile and setting and updating your data. Don't forget to set your email preferences to receive the weekly update from THC too. You can also use your Pitchero log in to sign up for the http://www.timperley-sports.com/ website too.

Tell us what you think !

We've had a good response to the THC Survey with over 50 members and parents completing it so far ! The teams with the most replies so far are the 1st teams - so don't miss out and share your views about THC

....and finally...

It was very moving to see so many Timperley members at Kenny Palin's funeral today from his beloved cricket but also hockey and other section past and present members. Over 300 people warmly shared laughter and joy and a few tears in celebrating the life of a real one off who will be sadly missed. Kenny wasn't one for hockey but he was very much part of the fabric of the club especially over the summer months. The day and service summed up why the community and family that clubs like our, and Alty FC are made up of are special because of the people - and Kenny was one of those special people.
