Hard match against local rivals

Timperley 1's had an early start against one of their local rivals Chester. Chester had a short journey down the M56 and were greeted at Timperley by a confident team after a excellent win over Sheffield. Plus the team saw the returned on Becky Horan and Clair. The team did their normal preparation with the girls having a good old chat about the week and moving to the changing room where Lexi pulls out her lucky conker and the whole team had to rub it for luck. Also Jay walking into the wall and falling onto Annie. Jamie entered the changing room to give us a team talk and was able to adapt for our visual learners by giving out the formation on paper.

The team moved outside to start the warm up, we had a brilliant warm up which we took into the game. Lexi, Becky S and Jay were brilliant up front hunting in packs with the midfield and defence behind them. In the first half the team attacked and defended as a unit and created a number of chances and these chances turning into goals. By half time the team where 3-0 up with three very well worked goals with Becky S half volley on a short corner to Catherine pinching the ball off Leonine, slotting it into the corner to score her first goal of the season and finally with Lexi using her goal poaching skills deflecting the ball into the net. The team were very positive going into the second half but knowing Chester may come back at the us. This didn't effect the team and they continued with their good performance with lovely passing between the team creating chances and winning short corners. There were many incidents during the game with Leonine running the show with some great individual skills and supportive play but best of all was her running down the pitch getting into the D and when you think she got herself in good position she falls over but given her determination she still managed to pass the ball from the floor. We had Jay trying to run through players instead of going round and her demonstrating her diving skills. I gave her 6 out of 10. Next week, Jay I would like to see improvement!!! We had Horan returning to the team and picking up a green card, Catherine lifting the ball hard into one of the Chester players ribs and to top it off another clean sheet!!

This weeks win demonstrates the skills of this young team and how they work hard for each other. But most of all the hard work in training and pre season training started to show with us gaining some very good wins against very good opposition. Man of match went to Leonnie for excellent performance in the midfield whilst DOD award went to, I bet you can't guess? Yes it was Jay again!!! Next week the team are at home against Brooklands. Timperley's derby day!!
