Timperley Ladies 1XI vs Sheffield Hallam Ladies 1XI

When the Ladies 1s arrived to play Sheffield Hallam, they were greeted by the sight of the blue and pink pitch last seen at the London Olympics. They then proceeded to get very giddy and take plenty of pictures. Concentration was regained when the whistle went and the game started in near Baltic conditions with a nippy wind.

Timperley got off to a bright start with Jay and Lexi causing problems for the Sheffield defence and creating early chances but couldn’t get the breakthrough. The teams were evenly matched, both defending well and showing attacking promise. Annoyingly, Sheffield had a squad of 15 young and fit students so kept on throwing on fresh legs. They played a nice passing game but couldn’t get through the rock solid Timperley defence, with Alice throwing herself into tackles and man of the match Sophie stopping attack after attack.

Team Defence were weakened when the always reliable Kate took a wayward stick to the face but they managed to hold out for the rest of the game to earn a hard fought point that keeps them just 5 points off 1st place in the division.
