Timps come off second best

Timperley Beavers took to the road for their second away fixture of 2018 and didn't come home with the result they wanted. Looking to do the double over Chester Beavers, Timperley were unable to score and were beaten 3 - 0 by a well organised and skillful team. Despite the score line there were many positives to be taken from the game. Most notably was the solid performance of the hastily recruited GK, Molly, who put in a man of the match performance making a number of impressive saves and clearances. In a game that saw over officious Umpiring called into question, our mid-field play perhaps lacked the width that we have developed in previous games with the focus of our attack being through the middle of the pitch. This meant that Timps were able to move the ball into the Chester D but were ultimately shutout by the oppositions well drilled defence and GK. At the other end some solid tackling by Luke and good defensive play by Josh C-L and Amba gave Molly the confidence to step up to Beavers hockey. Despite the strength of Ollie, Josh and Wilf, supported by Edward and Will Evans the battle was ultimately lost in midfield. One of the best observations by the coach DH was that no Timps players let their heads drop despite finding this a tough game. There's no doubt that this alone meant that the score line remained respectable and we limited them to scoring two unstoppable and one lucky 'in-off-the-post' goals. Well done team!
