The curtain falls on the U11 GMJHL Season

An A/B Team Mash Up having a bit of fun at the final tournament of the year
For me, at least, this has been an eventful, roller-coasting season full of learning opportunities and great experiences.
The last tournament of the year followed that theme perfectly. Off the back of many of the lads becoming U10 Northern Cup Champions, we went into the last Armitage fixture with a more laissez faire attitude, wanting to include as many of the boys from this years A and B team campaigns in our single team slot.
Timperley A went into the fixture resting safely at 3rd place in the league with no chance of ascending any higher, so not chasing anything and Timperley B had done themselves proud nestling safely, mid-table, despite only getting to play in 2 tournaments....so also no pressure to chase a result. This allowed us to mix up the team and get as many of the lads as possible to capitalize on another chance to play in a competitive fixture.
At the Manager's meeting I was reminded that the pool we found ourselves in was for the stronger teams, and with clubs like Bowdon (1st in League) and Brookland's (2nd in League) fielding their A players it was always going to be a tough day.
In the early games, us loyal fans could see that the chaps were being thrown together cold, but by the last fixture they began to turn the heat up.
We held Macclesfield to a draw in match one. Timp "Man of the Tournament" Ben Clark showed his guile in goal by making some great early saves.
Brooklands were their usual masterful selves and slotted home a deserved 4 to our zero.
The next match against Didsbury A drew some more excellent saves from Ben from all over the park in open play and short corners. It was now that the lads started gel and play some more fluid hockey. The final whistle blew on a 0 - 0 scoreline.
Next up Bowdon A and as expected the score line favoured them, but not without some eventful and great play from both teams and we were unfortunate not to keep them to a more slender win.
The last game against Wilmslow saw Patrick ably replace Ben between the uprights and this allowed Ben to grab an assist for Charlie Hs excellently take goal to ensure we didn't go without a win. 1-0 was the results but only because Charlie Es powerful stroke unfortunately pinged out off the post in the dying minutes.
Thank you to Rob Judd and Tim for Coaching and Captaining today, you were superb and thanks to all the lads who have played and parents who supported this year. A big thank you to Ewan and all the umpires also.
