Across the Club we’ve had a really good start to the season and the most important stat is we have fulfilled all our fixtures - unlike many clubs who have struggled in the post covid bounce back. Thanks to all involved in the behind the scenes work to get teams sorted and a special day to day as our U8’s head off to the Armitage today for their first tournaments and they start hopefully a lifelong love of the sport!

Respect for all and keeping sport safe
We’re also proud to have incorporated the GB Hockey Stick it to Racism logo within the new Men’s 1 shirt design and show our support for the wider Respect for all across our sport. This ties in well with our annual reminder to all involved in hockey at the Club of our Code of Conduct on and off the pitch and make hockey an environment for all and where all feel comfortable and accepted. This applies from our senior to our academy matches and any events, training or activity so lets all make sure we keep Timperley a fantastic place to be for all.

This links into Parents in Sport Week and we encourage all parents to take a look at the really good resources, short video and information.

Hockey Development
Off the pitch we’ve been on EH briefing as we start our journey to be accredited as one of the initial 37 England Hockey Talent Centres for U14 and U16 club players. Thanks to Caroline Small, Rob Turner and our new Welfare Officer Sarah Wilkins who are supporting this process along with the coaching team. Lots f hard work ahead but it will be well worth it.

More developments yesterday for our #Whistlers as we have a full run out with the new radios for our Club Umpires and they went down a storm. Thanks to Malcolm for sorting the technology and all the work Fozzy (Umpires Co-ordinator) and Nick Burnett (Umpire Developer) are doing this season to take forward how organise umpires and develop those old and new. More news in the next few weeks too as we work with our Young Leaders on their development too.

Fundraising and sponsorship help us do what we do and fund the Clubs hockey development activities from the £72 raised at the Academy Social Raffle to our main sponsors Kitchens of Altrincham, Coolair, Myerson's and Juniper. We're delighted to have Eighteen Hockey signed up for a pitch side banner and will be announcing more new supporters shortly. If you would like to find out more or to Sponsor Match Days contact Shelagh, Anna, Col or Jo Rob.

Getting Social - more than a game
Being involved in a hockey club is about more than the hockey ! Its about the people and the community we create and are part of! Friday evening was another great example of this with a packed clubhouse for our first Academy Family Social - thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event and special thanks to Quiz Queen and organiser Louise Frampton and the man on the mic Mike Welton of Mike and the Weltones who treated us to superb live music. The is the first of what we hope will be regular Friday family evenings - so let Louise or Anna know any suggestions you have for themes!

Save the date for our next big #oneclub social on Saturday 27th November when the Race Night with a Differencereturns - tickets go on sale soon and along with the opportunity to be a Race Sponsor for £50. This was our last big social in February 2020 before Covid struck so lets roll back time and make it another cracking night for all !

Eager Beavers
Finally this weeks photo captures our own 'Eager Beavers' waiting to play Southport yesterday big smiles and showing what hockey can do as a sport for bringing people together of all ages.

Seeing the Beavers B team and what hockey meant to them yesterday was a poignant reminder that this week we also mark the first anniversary of the tragic loss of Pat Marston – Patty would have liked nothing more than popping down the Club this weekend for a beer and to watch the hockey, lead the banter and be a friend to all - mind he wouldn't be too impressed the Black Sheep is off ! - So take a moment to remember Patty on Tuesday and when you wear a blue shirt #playforpatty and make him proud of all things Timperley and Hockey.
