The cold snap has certainly not been kind to hockey this week with the pitches freezing from Wednesday onwards. With daytime temperatures not forecast to be above 2-3C and freezing sub zero temperatures overnight the decision has been taken early to cancel ALL HOME GAMES and JUNIOR TRAINING this weekend (2nd - 3rd December).
Nearly all the AWAY games are also cancelled also due to frozen pitches with just the M5 and Badgers awaiting pitch inspections on Saturday and M1 on Sunday ahead of their trip to Beeston. Please check in with team captains / managers before you travel to check if games are on.
** Men's 5's now OFF.
CLUB OPENING TIMES
The only likely sport taking pace at the Club this weekend will be senior lacrosse if the pitches are fit. All junior football and lacrosse is also cancelled.
The Clubhouse / Bar will therefore not open until 13:00 on Saturday and Sunday this weekend - and evening opening may be adjusted depending on how many people venture out. There will also be no bar menu available this weekend. The Bar will be open and they'll be the usual array of sport on the TV's !
Our friendly Christmas Tree sellers will also be on site all weekend selling what look a super set of trees from the Stockport Rd Car Park.
REARRANGED GAMES
We now have a fairly major Air Traffic control job on with rearranging 15+ matches impacted by the weather over recent weeks. All Adult and Junior league and Cup games need to be re-arranged and to help us manage this all players are asked to update their AVAILABILITY on Pitchero and whats app groups to help the scheduling of dates / players.
TRAINING w/c 4th DECEMBER
Please check back in next week to check how the pitches are doing and if training is on / off for
- U14/U16 Training on Monday
- Club training and 1/2's on Tuesday
- 1's training on Thursday (tbc)
The only games that will not be rearranged will be Badgers, Beavers and Otters and any friendlies for M8's
Enjoy your hockey free weekend if impacted by the cancelled games and get all those festive jobs out of the way so you've plenty of time for hockey during the rest of the month
