Lots going on this week as we get fully up and running for the 2018-19 season !

All about the hockey.......

The Academy kicked off its season last Sunday with great numbers down for registration - if your child is in year 11 or below we need parents to come down on a Sunday or Tuesday to complete Registration, Consent Forms and pay hockey fees - for more information Academy Registration Details

We've had excellent numbers down for all sessions on at Tuesday Training with the switch over on timings going pretty well. Coaches will continue to tweak training groups over the coming weeks, and season. Good to see so many old and young players , across all group[s responding so well to the coaches drills and sessions. Still unsure about training times ? Click here for more details THC Training Times

League hockey is back this week for the Ladies 3s, 4s and 5's as they start their league campaigns in the Cheshire Women's Hockey League. Big thanks to Helen Cue, Club Captain for steering through the registration of players and navigating the complexity of the changes to the CWHL Rules. Another milestone this week as ladies selection was completed using the availability and selection tools on our website platform Pitchero - well done to Penny, Nat, Fiona, Ruth, Woody and Mark who grappled with the technology and to so many players for loading up their availability and Pitchero profiles. Ladies 2's have no game this week and the Ladies 1's head to Neston for a friendly on Sunday at 1.30pm.

The Gents continue with friendlies with NWHL and North Hockey League not starting until 22nd September - the Men's 1's head to Leeds on 8th September and the 3's and 4's host Chester. The men will be getting to grips more with Pitchero over the next coupdl of weeks.

Saturday Academy fixtures kick off this week and we'd like to introduce our new Badgers team this weekend - to be known as Blue Badgers. Both Badgers teams will play home games this weekend and the Beavers will kick of their season next weekend. As we combine data for those academy players who have registered we will work through and firm up how the Beavers, Blue Badgers and Badgers will best operate the squads and develop the players.

All about the coaching .....

On Sunday 9th September, at 10am , we have our first Academy Coaches Update of the season led by Albert for all involved coaching on a Sunday and or coaching Academy teams. Former, current and interested / potential coaches are all welcome to come along and hear more about the approach for the season and how we are continually striving to mentor and develop our coaches as well as our players.

Big thanks to Leonnie Molloy who has revamped our Academy Coaching Curriculum over the summer and developed new resources to support our volunteer coaches. Leonnie has done some cracking work with Caroline Small, Hockey Development Chair , to get the materials in place to kick start the Academy coaching. Albert will continue in his role to support and mentor the coaches with support from Caroline Small.

We're looking for players, or anyone interested in joining the Academy coaching team, on an occasional, or more regular basis - or to one of our 18+ Academy teams to speak to Albert, Nisha, Smalley, Cuey, Kieran, Rob Judd or Shelagh, or come along to our Coffee and Pasteries drop in on Sunday 16th September to find out more about supporting the academy.

Women's 1's - we have announced the appointment of Nigel Stanhope to the role of Women's Performance Coach this week. Nigel has got straight to work with the girls in preparation for their first league game on 29th September. We wish Nigel every success in this role , Nigel brings a wealth of experience as a player and coaching and moves from his roles as Men's 2/3's coach. Shelagh Entwisle will take on the role as Women's 1 Manager working with Nigel and Co-captains Kelly Burdett and Vicky Lomas. The Women travel to Lee Valley next weekend for the Plum Tournament as part of their pre-season warm up games,

Men's coaches - Mark Worsely will be covering the Men's Club, 2/3's coaching sessions on a Tuesday and supporting the Men's 2's on a Saturday in the interim, when available. We're working with others to work out the best approach and will be advertising shortly for a further coach to bring the team back up to full strength with five coaches. We thank Worz for his support and flexibility as we recruit.
