#OneClubDay - Sunday 13th May 2018

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to the club for our end of season celebrations ! If you weren't able to get down take a look at our Review of the Season booklet covering all senior and academy teams and this season video put together for us by Leonnie Molloy. There are very few sports that have the ability to bring so many people together of all ages still and Sundays #OneClubDay really brought the meaning of #hockeyfamily to life !

We had a massive turnout for the parents v kids games with both pitches full with back to back games and it was great to see so many families down for the Academy part of the day. The function room was chock a block for our Academy Presentations from our youngest cubs aged 5 upwards just starting out in their hockey careers to those in year 11 leaving the academy to fully join the senior section. We also recognised our young leaders, umpires, coaches and parent managers and all the support from players and parents to deliver so much hockey. The Under 10 Boys picked up the Team of the Year Trophy following their success this season as both Cheshire and North of England Champions. A full update of all the awards and team reports onto the website will be completed in the next week or so.

Our newest award - The Stan Johnson Memorial Trophy for the Young Club Member of the Season - was awarded to Ella Nicholson, omnipresent at the club whether playing, helping out with cake stalls, helping the cubs and young players and of course the bringer of many cakes to built the post match culture of the beavers !

The #OneClub Mixed 7's, albeit with a lower turnout than last year, was a great afternoons hockey and enjoyed by all who came down to witness so new player combinations from across all teams and some silky skills and the odd bit of showboating ! Thanks to Nick Burnett and Malcolm Tucker who umpired and kept order ! After a barrage of flicks to end the day the overall winner were team Germany captained by Will Tobin even after very poor display in the shoot out ! Well done too to our keeper duo of Pat Jones and Ollie Evans who played in every game.

The THC AGM followed and again thank you to everyone who attended and got involved with questions and learning more about what goes on behind the scenes at a club of our size. A summary will be provided but key areas covered included:
- headlines from the recent THC survey (from Juddy)
- how plans to develop Timperley Sports Club are progressing and the opportunities and implications for hockey (from Shelagh)
- an overview of our finances (the financial year ends on 31st May) including the growth in income (and expenditure) and on going investment in coaching and hockey development (from Malcolm)
- Caroline Small shared details of our wider outreach hockey activity with schools and the addition of specialist goalkeeping coaching for academy and seniors, engagement of a fifth club coach to support coaching and, for the Under 18's and Performance Squads additional indoor sessions train sessions were all added to the coaching programme in 2017-18
- the changes to the National League (from Sept 2019) and opportunities and implications for THC next season (by Shelagh)
- Nisha, Kieran and Jackie (on behalf of Cuey) gave updates on the Academy, Men and Ladies seasons
- updates on GDPR and use of Pitchero as the main communication channel (including email functionality) to support managing data in one place, and in a way whereby members can control their own data and preferences / settings
- a summary of our progress in developing the umpiring pool under Nick Burnett's leadership and the range of volunteer roles available and needing to be filled.

The final award of the season was also announced - Ladies Player Player voted by players was Penny Croquette from the Ladies 5's.

The following were re-elected:

Club Captains (and for the higher teams Performance Coaches) will be working with players to identify and agree Team Captains for all senior teams taking into account the requirements of the role. Vice Captains will also be reintroduced to provide support and a sounding board for captains to work with and spread the load.

If you'd like to offer some support or get more involved do speak to any of the committee or email timperleyhc@gmail.com - have a look at the last weekly update for details of the various jobs or roles we need to cover !

Communications, data and housekeeping

As included in previous weekly updates we will be completing the cleanse of data on Pitchero and sending notifications to players to check and update their personal data and preferences on Pitchero as part of our annual housekeeping and GDPR. Where Timperley Sports Club or its hockey section (aka THC) we hold it in relation to your participation in sport at Timperley. For under 18's data is shared with parent manager and captains for that they have access to emergency contact numbers and relevant information - especially where parents do not accompany Under 18's to matches.

Any changes in how we manage data will be built into the preparation for the new season and our administration processes. This will also cover out financial record keeping. We will need your help to do this as we want to make sure we can keep in contact with all those involved in hockey (players, umpires, parents, managers, supporters) to keep them updated with whats going on at the club, fixtures, availability and selection, league and cup player registrations, emergency contact details and where relevant medical information. If you have any queries or concerns please contact timperleyhc@gmail.com. As we are all members of Timperley Sports Club we are working with the Club Executive on the overall approach.
