As our most successful season on and off the pitch draws to a close we celebrate our U14/16 achievements !

We started the 2021-22 Season coming off the back of three national lockdowns and hockey like we'd never known before - we end it having grown as a club and celebrating the most incredible season for our young players, coaches, volunteers and hugely supportive band of parents! Take a look back at the an incredible season for us as a club, group of volunteers and coaches, our U14 and U16 Teams.

#OneClub
2021-22 was another year when we pushed the boundaries to keep evolving and developing as a club and we were one of the first 37 Club's in England to be choose to be one of the new England Hockey Talent Centres - a gold standard accreditation for club's junior programmes and their U14 and U16 Age Groups. The new format training sessions on a Tuesday night were a major contributor to our most successful ever junior session on the pitch across both boys and girls. Big shout out to Anna Mawby and Sarah Wilkins (Welfare Officer) for their support to help us also be awarded our England Hockey Club Mark Accreditation in April 2022.

Overall we grew to 250 junior players and now have the exciting challenge of how we organise ourselves with growing numbers of players and to bed in the new Talent Centre structure for all our U14 - U16 Players from September 2022.

On the Pitch Success
The highlight of the season has been seeing so many young players enjoy their hockey - arrive and leave matches and training with smiles on their faces and be the living embodiment of being part of our #hockeyfamily and part of THC. Above all other things enjoying playing hockey, enjoying being with hockey friends and being part of a club remain key priorities an this season out junior members and families has really shown that hockey is about more than a stick ball and pitch!

In January our U16 Boys reached the EH National Indoor Finals and as a club with no indoor facilities this was a great achievement and experience for the boys and we hope to do more indoor in 2022-23

On the pitch we entered the new North West Hockey Junior Leagues (Tier 2) that gave us lots of hockey, the opportunity for travel and for our teams and players to grow and all four teams reaching the NW T2 Finals Day in Lancaster on 24th April and finishing the season:

- NW Tier 2 Runners up - Girls U14, Girls U16 and Boys U14
- NW Tier 2 Champions - Boys U16

Highlight of the season winning our first ever England Hockey Junior Championships Trophies! An incredible experience for all our players, coaches and supporters at the Finals Day in Cambridge when we only went and made Club History !

- EH Tier 2 Cup - Champions - U16 Boys (beating Hampstead and Westminster)
- EH Tier 2 Plate - Champions - U14 Girls (beating Wimbledon)

We also had another good season for our Beavers a and b teams and Badgers that are an important part of our junior player pathway and development.

Many U14 and U16's also made their senior debuts and made major contributions to the senior teams from the National to North West Leagues playing at all levels across the club putting our #homegrown guiding principle into action!

Finally, congratulations to all players who played County Hockey for GM JAC, our players pushing the boundaries at EH Performance Centre, our boys and girls selected for the Tensworth Invitational teams, progressing in the England Age Group assessment pathway (Oli Hatton) and selection for the invitational U13 Representative UK Lions team (Josh Higgin)

Every player has developed and been a credit to themselves this season. We thank all our coaches, parent managers, volunteers and parents and families that give so much support and encouragement.
