We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Sambell as our new Performance Coach to lead the Men’s 2’s programme and club coaching. Mike will also support the Men’s 1’s for Thursday training and match days. Mike will be working closely with our Men’s Head Coach, Rob Turner, as the Men’s 1 start their first season in England Hockey League Division 1 (North). The Men’s 2’s look to push towards the top end of the NW Premier Division.

Big thanks to Nathan Redman for his contribution to the THC coaching team last season and we’re delighted that Nathan will be moving across to a performance analysis role.

Mike will be leading club training, working with Ross Small and Mark Worsley (our club coaches) and Dave Price (Club Captain) to support the Men’s 3 – 8, plus the development and transition of our juniors.

Mike has developed as a well-respected coach in the North West and has been Head Coach for Windermere Men’s 1’s for the past 5 seasons. The move will support Mike to develop his coaching to the next level alongside his successful schools coaching business and coaching within the talent pathway. We’re excited about Mike joining the team and further enhancing the high level of coaching across the club.

Pre-season plans are already in place for the Men’s 1 and will be finalised for the Men’s 2’s and club sessions now Mike is on board. We look forward to inviting players to Performance Squad pre-season training and we will be sharing the full pre-season programme for all teams over the next couple of weeks. Club pre-season will be later in August.
