Background to the increases

As reported at our last two AGMs we've had a couple of challenging seasons managing the impacts of the pandemic on our hockey finances resulting in reporting deficits. We've also been absorbing increases across all our big costs combined with offering more coaching hours and opportunities meaning our reserves have been decreasing. The Hockey Committee has been reviewing our finances over the Summer and reluctantly we are having to increase fees for the coming season to cover hockey running costs for all ages. Our forecast hockey expenditure for the 2022-23 season is £90,000 (an increase of 20% from last year), the income to fund this comes from a range of areas including: match fees; fundraising (including tournaments and Summer League), events etc; sponsorship and junior hockey fees.

Timperley Sports Club has also had to make small increases to our annual club membership subs (between £5 - 10) to contribute towards increased club costs. Your TSC Subs go towards running the site, playing facilities and clubhouse and all the club costs of running one of the best club facilities in the North. The Club also remains one of the best value hockey clubs in the area and of course the only one with two on site pitches. Remember none of these subs go towards running the hockey section.

Hockey Match Fees - all ages
Hockey Match Fees generate about a third of our income and contribute to a wider range of hockey running costs including pitch hire for training (£10k pa), affiliations / entry fees and insurance (c£8kpa), Match Teas (c£7k pa), equipment, coaches etc

Match fees for senior teams will be increasing for the first time in over 10 years for the men and 7 years for the women and remain comparable with the majority of similar sizes clubs:

Match Fees from 1st September 2022
Senior matches
- £12 full match fee (increased from £10)
- £6 Concession match fee (u18, full time education, apprentice, unwaged or approved) (increased from £5)
Junior Matches (u10 and older) £5 (increased from £4)

Due to Match Fee's not being paid on time, selection will include a review of player with more than three weeks Match Fees owing, and non payment may impact selection

Junior Fees (U18's)
Over the last three seasons we have redesigned our junior (U18) hockey programme and now offer all of our juniors a wide range of playing and development opportunities. We now offer all our Under 14 and 16's the opportunity to train on a Monday evening as part of our England Hockey Talent Centre Accredited Programme - one of only 37 clubs in the country currently offering this. The move of the U14 and 16's has meant we can grow our cubs to U12's with more space on a Sunday. We now have a number of paid coaches leading the delivery of junior hockey with our brilliant team of volunteers who we also support in a range of ways. We also enter a wider range of Local, county, North West and England Hockey Competitions as well as our popular Badger and Beaver programme on Saturdays. Our older juniors also have access to senior hockey and we've added two new senior development teams (Ladies 6 and Mens 8) to offer more opportunities. Junior Fees help fund all of this activity and with increased costs over the last few seasons we now have to increase our fees to contribute to our costs. We're still comparable to other local clubs with a similar offer.

We'll be on hand to help parents sign up and pay for hockey subs and fees at Junior Registration on 4th and 5th September.

2022-23 Junior Hockey Fees will be collected with your Timperley Sports Club Sub and if set up and paid by 23rd September can be paid in 4 monthly instalments (Sept to December).

All players in year 3 to 13 pay a Timperley Sports Club Subscription of £80 that covers all sports played at the Club . If you are a cricket, football or lacrosse member you only play the £80 once. There is no TSC Sub due for Under 7's
