Another milestone week at the club as the Blue Pitch goes green with the installation of the new energy saving LED lights, a bumper 25 game weekend and the launch of our 2024-25 THC Survey!
Scores on the doors from weekend 25th / 26th January 2025
Senior games
- Won 7/ Lost 4 / Drew 4
- Goals Scored 33 / Goals conceded 28 and we keep a positive +5 but still below the goal scoring levels we were hitting before Xmas!
- Highest goals scored was 5 for the M6's with a 5 - 1 with all 5 scored in the first half and the M8's clinching a 5 - 4 win v Horwich with a goal from Simon Frampton in 62 minute
- Fastest Goal was after 1 minute from that annoyingly popular player ' name withheld' for the M6's
A mixed bag over the weekend and we didn't fair well with our Sunday rearranged games losing 3 out of 4. M2's got back to winning ways and another win for the L5's puts them joint top of Div 5 (E) and good to see the M4's pick up 3 points and lift their spirits too. In the Blue v Blue L1 v L2 game it ended all square at 1 - 1 and the L1's back in 2nd in the leagues to Brooky by 1 point as they go into this weekends double header v Chester 4pm today and Lancaster on Sunday away.
25 game weekend !
Its been a major logistical conundrum to find pitch slots, umpires and players to field 25 teams across three days with our normal league programme of games, 6 EH Championships games, rearranged league games and our Badgers, Beavers and Otters. We've 14 home games, appointed 25 home umpires (19 different people), captains / manager have selected 350 players(across all games) and the teas ordered for 257 people!
Has a pause about those numbers and the fantastic work of all our volunteers to make all this happen! Its been a bit stressful but this is also what being part of a club link Timperley's about a busy, buzzing weekend of hockey for all ages, all abilities, players, umpires, coaches and managers and loyal supporters !
This weekend's highlights include the Men's 1's back in league action away at Brooklands 12noon pb on Sunday - let's get some support down for the boys as they continue the relentless pursuit of promotion to the 2nd tier of English hockey. As well as all the league action this weekend's all about the EH Championships.
Congratulations to the Girls U16's who came out 3-2 winners v local rivals Bowdon in the EH Tier 1 Supra League Plate - great win and the way to go as it opened our weekends games with a Friday Night game under the new lights on the Blue Pitch! We've 5 EH games on Sunday with the Mixed heading off to Oxton, and the U14G,U14B, U18G and Women's O45s all at home across the day.
We will also be holding a Minutes Silence before all games on Saturday and our senior games on Sunday to remember John Entwisle and Simon Graveney. Thanks to Catherine and Rick Entwisle for sponsoring this weekends games in memory of their Dad, John.
Blue Pitch goes green !
The new LED lights on the Blue Pitch were installed this week and this is another investment milestone for our club. TSC - your club - has invested c£500,000 into our playing facilities since 2020 when we replaced the Green Pitch. Not many clubs do this so please continue to help make this type of investment happen - everything you buy something over the bar, enter the 300 club, pay your annual subs and support fundraising your helping us to run one of the best club based facilities in the north west.
Hockey has contributed £4,500 towards the cost of the £48,000 project this has mainly been raised from the fundraising at the Hockey Annual Dinner that supports our Development Fund. So if your made a table donation, took part in the auction or have been to our fundraising event you're pounds really have made a difference and thanks to all who have contributed.
The clubs next big project is the redevelopment and refurbishment of the clubhouse and bar - this is a big one and our 22 year old home is in need of a revamp they'll be more news about these exciting plans over the next few months and how to get involved.
