After the October break it’s good to be back this weekend and there’s a distinct Autumn chill in the air! Enjoy this weekend’s games and our home feature matches are :

We closed off block one of League fixtures with a packed blue pitch for the tense derby M1 v Bowdon match with another narrow defeat 0 -1 for the blues showing how fine the margins are at this level. Download the programme and take a look at our new ‘history corner’ feature as part of our lead up to our 140th birthday in 2026!
The winner on the night was the record ‘Saturday Night Under the Lights’ crowd of 248 in the blue pitch and more outside who with great support for the neighbours too, created a fantastic atmosphere and showed the ‘spirit of hockey’ again at its best and a packed clubhouse after the game. We also tried out the option of pitch side food so let us know what you thought and if will be demand for future games.

#MakingHockeyHappen
Our revamped Young Leader Development and Mentorship Programme is now up and running and it’s a real pleasure to welcome back former Junior Chair/ Co-ordinator Nishi Sathi whose kindly stepped up to run the programme. As well as helping our year 8’s upwards develop really value skills, confidence and self-development the opportunities will hopefully grow a future generation of people who #makehockeyhappen for many many years to come. The YL opportunities include coaching, umpiring and as supporting younger teams and events. Our older younger leaders including Joe Williamson and Josh Higgin are supporting Monday night junior training.
We know all players are brilliant umpires but how many have ever picked up a whistle and experienced seeing the game from a different perspective! We’re on a quest to encourage more people to pick up a whistle and come along to an evening lead by some different faces to get a first hand feel for making the first steps and the support available to encourage and develop you. What’s this space for details and we’d challenge all players of any age to take the short online Rules test available on https://hockeyhub.englandhockey.co.uk/officiating !
More banners and fantastic support from our sponsors
More banners have gone up around the blue pitch for our sponsors: Davidson’s; Macklin & Co Estate Agents; McHale & Co Solicitors, Eighteen Hockey and View Landscaping and thank to Tom Jones former M1 player for his support. If your business or employer would be interested in supporting THC and promoting their business please contact Shelagh Everett or David Price princes start from £300.
