Hard to believe we're at the final weekend of the adult league season and we're looking forward to a special celebratory weekend to cap off the 2024-25 league season, and we're still flying the flag in the EH Junior and Masters Club Championships. We hope to see any Blues, family and supporters own this weekend as we celebrate two titles in the bag, hopefully two Runners Up spots and booking places in two more National Finals.
Super Sunday - 30th March 2025 - be there !
Let's make it a fantastic #timperleyhockeyfamily day to remember - we hope as many club members, families and friends will join us for the Men's 1 league season finale v Doncaster (14.00) and, trophy and medal presentation and celebrations. We've three junior games on the green too so we hope our young blues will come along to watch some of the M1's game too.
The weather's looking great, the bar is well stocked, we've 40 past and current members and guest joining the pre match lunch and we hope you'll join us for our biggest crowd of the season to see the M1's reach the holy grail of going undefeated all season. If you can't make the game why not pop down later in the day as this is bound to be a late one ! See full details and the running order for the day https://www.timperleyhockeyclub.com/news/lets-make-it-a-super-hockey-sunday-to-remember--30th-march-2025-2909310.html
Scores on the doors 22nd / 23rd March .....
Some really important games last weekend to tidy up the adult league season and the Men's 6's did the business to win the title (see below), the Ladies 1 beat Liverpool Sefton 3 -1 to secure a third place finish and a 4 - 0 win for the ladies 2's guaranteed them NW Prem hockey next season. The L3 and L5's stay second and hope to secure their respective runners up spots this weekend. M4's after a big win the week lost to Deeside but they can still avoid with drop depending on todays results. Everyone else is safe and the Men's 1's kept their undefeated record with a 2 - 2 draw away at Ben Rhydding.
Men's 6s champions !
Congratulations to James Dennis and his players whose 4 - 2 win away v Urmston 2's last week to take the NW Division 6 (E) title. Neil Hornby nabbed an early brace with Niall Scott to put Super 6's 3 - 0 up in within 23 minutes so they must have had the fizz on ice and thinking job done! Urmston woke up in the second half pulling the score back to 3 -2 to spice up the game and not to take any chances Neil Hornby scored the 4th in the last minute. We also wish captain JD all the best for his recovery after his Achilles when during the match so won't be trotting out for a bit - take it easy JD and hope to see you back on the pitch over the summer.
The win secured the title from chasers Bowdon 7s giving a four point cushion with one game to play - P19, W15,D2 and L2 with a GD30+. There's the formality of a trip to Bury today to close out the season and then its back to the club for celebrations from 4pm and knowing some of the 6's from previous years so top notch singing!
EH Championships news!
The WO45's headed to Formby last week to play a strong side in their Tier 1 QF including former GB and England legend Tina Cullen. A full on 70 minutes of hockey ended in it being all square at 1-1. So it was down to strokes to settle the tie and the Blues nailed it 3 -2 to take them into the semi finals v Sutton Coldfield (a) on 6th April - one game away from the finals at Lee Valley. The only sad note of the day was a nasty facial injury sustained by Clare Hornby and we wish Clare a speedy recovery. Our WO55's head to Sevenoaks this weekend any early 11.30am Sunday push back in their Tier 2 Semi Final and we wish the squad safe travels and all the best to secure our second national final slot of the season joining the U18G already through.
The U16 Girls host Sevenoaks on Sunday 1pm in their EH Supra League T1 Plate Semi Final - so why not get down to support the girls before the M1's match and be their 12th player to book at place at Junior Clubs finals on 12th April in Nottingham

Here's to a super #oneclub weekend and one to celebrate anyone super season for all our teams - fielding 14 senior teams a weekend is no mean feat with just under 300 league games played, thats c 4000 player selection entries, so huge thanks to all our captains for making this happen...... and of course to our whistlers without whom there would be no games and across all games we're 325+ club appointments so if you're playing today remember to thank your umpire - without whom you'd not be playing !
Do join us to see out the NW league season at the club today and fora few drinks this evening and join us tomorrow for the M1 season finale, match, presentations and celebrations - help us get a bumper crowd down to celebrate Timperley taking hockey to the next level.
