Help spread the word - take a look at the video to find out more about what the Trundles all about, who its for and how it work and share with anyone you feel could enjoy and benefit from a Monday morning trundle !

The Timperley Trundle is a TSC community initiative delivered in partnership with Chews Health, a local Physiotherapy clinic, which aims to encourage walking and physical activity amongst local people who, due to reduced mobility and/or health concerns, would otherwise be reluctant to engage in such activities. Join the Trundle every Monday (except Bank Holidays at 10am at the Club) Take a look at the Video and hear from our Trundlers and take a peak at how it works and what happens each week !

Our partnership with local physiotherapy clinic, Chews Health, aims to bridge the gap between healthcare services and sports facilities for the benefit of the entire community. The Trundle fits perfectly with the Club's Vision and Mission to support health and well being of the local community and its fantastic to be working with a local specialist partner, in Chews Health, and see the benefits their passion and professional expertise is bringing to the Timperley Trundlers.

We've been running a pilot programme since August 2022 and its been brilliant to see the weekly walks grow in numbers and the buzz generated as members of the community head to the Club every Monday morning at 10am. The partnership brings together the clubs facilities and our role in the heart of the community, with the professional support and expertise of the team from Chews Health to create a walking group with a difference. Word of the Trundle has spread and its great to see 20 to 30 local residents, aged 60 to 90, down every week joining in the range of walks, meeting up with the Chews team and sharing a cuppa and chat in the Clubhouse after the walk.

We're delighted to have been awarded a small grant from Greater Manchester Walking Fund to enable us to continue to develop and grow the Timperley Trundle with Chews Health.

Walkers meet every Monday morning at Timperley Sports Club before heading out for a relaxed circular walk around the local area. Led by one of the Physiotherapists at Chews Health, walkers would aim to walk 60-90 minutes depending on walking speed with the opportunity to extend loops if ability increases.

Every walker is encouraged to walk at a speed that is appropriate for their level of mobility and fitness, with the group able to split into two smaller groups to accommodate walking abilities. The Trundle finishes with a brew and a chat at TSC which offer a welcome opportunity for participants to rest their feet, forge new friendships and quiz staff on any aches and pains they may have. The Trundle is also an opportunity for walkers to learn, through short educational sessions led by one of the Physiotherapists, about certain health conditions that may directly affect them.

For 2023, Chews Health have been benchmarking the abilities of the participants with various validated balance, strength and fitness tests as they aspire to improve their scores throughout the year. The Trundle supports Chews Health working with the Timperley community to use evidence-based therapy and rehabilitation to bridge the gap between healthcare and sport.

The Trundle is open to the whole community and if free to attend - find out more and contact details The Timperley Trundle - more details and is ideal for those who are less able, rehabilitating, looking to improve mobility or fitness and boost your mental health

Laura Maguire, Practice Manager at Chews Health said: ‘We are delighted to be working with Timperley Sports Club on a number of exciting community initiatives. From baseline
testing of the first team hockey players to our weekly Trundle with the elderly, our
Physiotherapists are seeking to boost the health, fitness and wellbeing of the village and
beyond.’

The Club has been a community hub for sport for over 100 years and our new partnership with Chews Health opens up new opportunities to support the wider health and wellbeing of local residents as well as offering first class Physio, rehab and injury prevention support to our members. These are exciting times as the Club plans to continue to invest in our community facilities over the next few years and to work with Chews Health to develop opportunities to support our members and the local community to remain active.
