As the league season fast approaches there's lost to catch up on this week from THC find out more !

As we head towards the new league season the hockey's really hotting up ! This weekend both 1st Teams are in competitive action - so come along and support the Blues as there's more silverware (and wooden plaques!) up for grabs !

CHESHIRE CUP
Congratulations to the Albert, mark and Ladies 1's who played three games last weekend and came out 4-3 on top verses Bowdon in the Cheshire Cup Semi Final. With a penalty flick awarded in the dying seconds of the game Beth stepped up to nail the win and a trip to Brooklands HC this Sunday for Finals Day. Just the boost the squad needed to get the season underway. With new players joining the squad and a wider Timperley squad at pre-season good progress is being made to prepare for the new season.

The Men's tested out the new Wilmslow mid-week and kept the goals following with a 4 -4 Draw. With the Ben's heading to Uni we've a refreshed side with some old faces, new faces and faces still to arrive ! So come down and support the lads in their Quarter Final.
Here's the weekends order of play:

Saturday 17th August 2019 - at Timperley
13:00 - Men 1's v Chester 1's Cheshire Cup Quarter Final

Sunday 18th August 2019 - At Brooklands HC
10:30 - Deeside v Bowdon (Men's Semi Final)
12noon - Brooklands v winner of Timperley v Chester (Men's Semi Final)
13:45 - Wilmslow v Timperley (Women's Final)

WEBSITE - UPGRADE
Work has been completed to upgrade the website including improving the security and you'll notice the little padlock linked to our SSL certificate in the url address when you log on. Pitchero is rolling out a new version of the website design across their platform and this week the THC website was updated to the new design. PAYMENTS now sites under the SHOP tab and if we find another other major navigation changes we'll let you know!

There are a few things - as there always are - to smooth out and improve including the club logo on the home page. The content should load faster on is accessing via a pc, tablet of the mobile app. Now we have the new design - which will take a while to get used - we'll be doing the annual housekeeping of content and trying to get everything up to date. All the old content, photos, data is all still there and as a user you shouldn't need to do anything ....but PLEASE take a minute to update your personal data on Pitchero and opt into (Under settings) to receive emails from THC and weekly updates. Captains will be starting to update 'tagging' of players to teams over the next few weeks that will link to selection and availability too - so help them by making sure we have your correct contact details.

We are hoping to start a months free trial to test the impact of removing the advertising from the site - whilst the ideal option it does incur a hefty increase in fee to do so - so we'll be taking soundings over the next few weeks or the benefit v cost of opting into the ad free version of Pitchero.

EURO's HOCKEY - watch England men and Women in action and news from the Masters Finals !
The FIH Euro's started today and run through to 25th August. This is an ideal opportunity for young and older players to watch some top class hockey and pick up some ideas for the new season - and see the new Rules in action !

If you cant make it to Antwerp games are being streamed on:
BBC here's how to follow the hockey on the BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/hockey/49129495
and
Eurohockey TV https://www.eurohockeytv.org/en-int/page/home-ehf-hockey

Watch the Men Saturday 17th August v Wales (10.15 - 12.15) (connected TV and online)
and the Women Sunday 18th August v Ireland (10.15 - 12.15) (connected TV and online)
Scotland, Wales and Ireland are also competing and its always worth watching the Dutch, Belgiums and Germans for hockey inspiration !

The Master's Euros also draws to a close on 17th August in Germany and we wish Lou Hutchinson all the best for the final of the Over 50's verses the Netherlands. Lou has netted 3 goals so far and played in five of the games so we hope like Kiery Horne in the Over 35's that she'll be bringing home gold !

DEVELOPING OUR OWN HOCKEY HEROES !
This week bookings have opened for HOCKEY HEROES a new fun and exciting programme for 5 - 8 year olds available at THC 15th September (13:00 - 14:00) for six weeks. Similar to the ECB Cricket All Stars the programme is open to all and players get to keep some great items to help keep them hooked on hockey including two sticks, a ball, t-shirt and stickers. See the website to find out more and how to book and the broader development skills the programme can give 5 - 8 year olds

There are also still places available of our final HOCKEY CAMP of the summer running 27th to 29th August - see website for details and to book a place. It was great to hear how after attending the most recent camp Men's 6th Team Captain Steve Hallmark has been taught at least three new skills from his son Leon - three skills we are all dying to see put into practice on the pitch ! Hockey Camp details and how to book

FORMER PLAYERS OR ANYONE INTERESTED IN TAKING ON A HOCKEY SUPPORT TEAM ROLE ?
There are a wider range of ways to be involved with hockey beyond playing and whistling ! EH are running free training for anyone who'd like to learn the basics of being a Technical Official. This is an ideal role for former players - or those who like the sport but don't play but fancy getting involved as part on an ad hoc basis. We now need to provide Technical Officials for all our Men's and Ladies 2's home games so its a good way to support us as part of our own #thirdteam. TO's are also needed at many junior JAC tournaments or other games and there's also the chance to grow into the role of National League Match Official too. Learn to be a Technical Official - find a session So take a look and hop on the sessions at Leeds and Wakefield if interested!

We're also looking to bolster out friendly 'pool' of National League Match Day Stewards - the face of the club on our increasing number of home National League men's and women's matches. With more games, more double headers are stalwarts Ruth Evans and Angela George will need some help so if you'd like to help starting at the end of September so if you fancy finding out more or lending a hand please contact Shelagh E.

GET READY FOR THE 2019-20 SEASON
With the League and Badgers and Beavers Fixtures in we are in the final throws of allocating the pitch slots and loading the everything onto Fixtures Live and Pitchero. Senior friendlies are being finalised so keep an eye on Fixtures Live and for communications from Club Captains and Captains on availability.

With the new improved floodlights on the Blue Pitch we are shifting to use this pitch for four matches on a Saturday (if we have 7 or more games) so we maximise the number of teams able to play under the new lights. The League pushes back for all teams (bar the 1's) on 21st September with the National League starting on 28th September at home. We're planning to enter the Hockey Papers #Watchyour1s competition so would love to hear your ideas on what makes a #greatmatchday for you at THC and how we can develop our own unique match day experience!

We'll also be mailing out the new membership for and details of how to pay your TSC Subs over the next week - don't forget no pay no play will kick in early October.

....and finally this week don't forget its also the 200 Club Draw on Saturday evening between 6.15pm - 6.45pm in the club house - all the usual monthly prizes and there's even more reason to come down as the snowball is £200 ! Numbers can be bought on the night for £4 if you're not a regular donor !
