Hectic week at THC ! League hockey is back, we 8 home games, our new 'late' game at 16:45, a £225 snowball and Bingo in a weeks time !

This weekend the efforts of our committee members, captains, coaches, managers, parents managers, umpires, and hockey support roles come together as the league season gets underway this week. These behind the scenes hockey heroes are the reason you are all able to play and watch hockey at TSC ! A huge thanks to all involved .

This weekend we have some first's and lots of hockey and more on offer!

- 12 senior Timperley sides and 3 academy sides hitting the turf
8 home games including our first Saturday Night Hockeymatch pushing back at 16:45 Men's 2's v Bowdon 3's
- our new Men's 7s team play their first league match v ......Timperley Mens 6's at 13:45 on the blue pitch - new players welcome so spread the word
- The Mens and Womens 1s head to Leeds HC for their warm up games before the first National League matches Saturday (28th ) at home to Alderley Edge come and support the #Blues
- Beavers, Blue Badgers and Badgers all in action
- and the chance to win the £225 cash snowball prize if you're in the clubhouse around 18:30 for the 200 club draw (and have bought a number for £4!)

Thanks to all the captains, Jo and Col our Club Captains who've got teams out and completed the massive task of around 300 players registrations across four systems and four sets of league rules ! Thanks also to Will Reynolds whose done another great job getting the umpires out and of course thanks to the whistlers and everyone else involved ! So this is just your average Saturday and a flavor of whats needed to chase availability,do selection and then manage the drop outs and changes to get nearly 200 players out playing matches this weekend.

This week our shout is for all members to take a minute to find the hero inside yourself and make this the week you step forward make Timperley a great hockey club to be part of on or off the pitch. There are all sorts of ways to get involved..... from simply helping collect in balls after sessions, put goals away and lock the gates up....to being a volunteer coach on a Sunday morning to bring on the next generation (and if a regular we'll support your subs)...or selling a pitch side banner to raise funds.....taking on the match day whats on comms and posters .....supporting social events including bonkers bingo on 28th September ....or simply communicating promptly to let your manager or captains know availability. Talk to Col Taylor, Jo Robinson, team captains, Shelagh, Kieran, Nisha, Malcolm, Jackie L or Juddy if you'd like to help make hockey happen and make things at Timperley even better.

Next generation ......
Last Sunday our next generation of hockey heroes had their first session led by Caroline Small as part of a great new initiative by England Hockey to introduce 5 - 8 years olds to our sport. The EH fee includes two sticks, a ball and t-shirt per player plus 6 weeks coaching. There's still time to sign up and once the programmes over the player can then continue with our Academy cubs sessions.

This week we've also said farewell to many of our #homegrown players heading off to University and continue their next hockey adventure ! All the best to the three Ben's, Siobhan, Alex M, Nathan, and everyone else starting Uni. We've also welcomed back former #Blues this summer back from Uni or studying including Kirty B, Abi P, Cioamhe and Bilal and other returners include Will Tobin, Matt Michie and Ben Jackson.

Past Generations ....
This week we heard the sad news of the passing of one of TSC Honorary Life Members - Dan Davies. Dan played cricket at Timperley but was one of the leading people it taking us forward as a club and embraces the philosophy we call #oneclubfoursports today. Have a quick read about Dan's life and contribution to the club and his role in getting us our first artificial pitch back in 1986. Sad News - Dan Davies
