Support the O45's #PlayingForLenny on Sunday, Hockey News, Watch the World Cup & the 300 Club too

This week we've been processing the devastating news of the loss, all too young aged 51, of one of our #HockeyFamily Eluned (Lenny) Smith). Our thoughts are with Lenny's family, team mates and friends who are coming to terms with this tragic and sudden news. Times like this remind us of what being part of the #hockeyfamily means - its about more than the sport its about friendship, shared experiences and the love of doing something we all love in good and bad times together. We've receive much love and support with messages from Clubs far and wide, some known to us, some not, from individuals, teams, and from across THC and TSC. During this most difficult of times this shows us again why hockey is more than a sport.

To celebrate Lenny's life and love of the game we'll be holding a minutes applause before games this weekend and in the most fitting tribute on Sunday Lenny's own team the Over 45's will be #PlayingForLenny in the 2nd Round of the EH Championships v Harrogate at home at 13:00. Lenny was a huge part of our O45'set up and the team that lifted the Club's first ever EH Tier 1 National Trophy at Lee Valley in May this year. Come down to join and support the O45's on Sunday who will be #PlayingForLenny and we know she'll be looking down on us expecting no less than a win and defence of our O45's title. Join in the Minutes Applause and raising a glass or two to Lenny in the bar after the game. #RIPLenny.

With 40 goals scored at home on Saturday (and 16 from the Men's 3) and 6 of out 7 home wins it was a great afternoon to be at the Club and thanks to everyone who hit the sides lines to support the Blues. Its really does make a difference from supporting our National League sides to our sides and of course our inspiring junior sides. Huge shout out this week the to Men who got a clean sweep and won all their games and there was great cheer when the Men's 7's 6 -0 win away at Buxton was reported getting their important second win of the season to keep morale up! Well done to our new M7's captain James Lloyd Williams whose picked up the mantle from Ahmed and we believe was delighted with the win! With mixed availability its been proving hard to get the numbers needed to field the Men's Development side but we remain hopeful that we can get the side up and running post Christmas.

Our only EH Championship game last week saw the Women's O35's cruise into the next round with a 6 - 0 on the road v Edgbaston playing down at the Uni of Brum on the Commonwealth Games pitches. They've a nice home draw v Lymm in the next round (11th Dec).

National League Round Up and this weekends hockey
The Men's 1's delivered a 4 -2 win v Sheffield Hallam to take them 2nd in the League and it was heartbreak for the Ladies 1 as a Fylde scored in deadtime from a Penalty Corner to win 2-1. Its a bit like de ja vu in Women's Conference North as 1 point divides with top 5 and we're in the pack. We've an away Double Header today at the Armitage v Didsbury with the L1 match at 15:00 and M1 go at 17:00.

Men's 2's will be looking for another win v Formby today in the early start (12:15) and we end the day with both Beavers teams playing in the 16:45 slot. As well as the O45's EH match on Sunday the Under 18 boys play their next round in the EH Championships at 14:30 v Alderley Edge so lets get some support down for the lads!

Its hard to believe but next weekend is the final National League set of games before the mid season break (linked to international hockey and indoor not weather!) with the L1 off the Alderley and M1 hosting Leeds at 2pm on Sunday 27th November for table topping clash. This is also our only remaining Sunday National League fixture of 2022-23 so why not come down to support the lads and there's still places at the pre-match lunch (£15) for those who fancy making an afternoon of it ! Get in touch with Shelagh or Nick Burnett to book a place (or table) by 5pm on Monday 21st November.

Don't forget our sponsors Eighteen Hockey will be at the club 10:45 to 14:00 on Sunday 27th November with their pop up hockey shop. The festive season is almost upon us !
We'll be sharing all the details of training / playing dates over the festive period this week so everyone can make sure their hockey's in their festive plans ! Big date to save is Saturday 17th December of the Club's family festive event - for all members, friends and supporters of the club. For the more socially active its a great way to meet up with hockey mates for 'Pre's' before you hit the town, for the oldies its a great way to meet up with friends old and new and for families its a great way to kids and parents to enjoy the activities and festive cheer. We'll be starting our collections for the legendary Timperley Tombola's (adults and kids) next weekend so dig out those donations too. Thanks to Coolair ....new Sponsorship opportunities
We'd like to thank Helen and the team at Coolair who are not renewing after five seasons as our main Men's 1's sponsor. Coolair's support, as with all sponsors, has been invaluable in helping us grow as a club and progress from the old North Premier League to National League Hockey. We are especially grateful for their continued financial support during Covid.

We therefore have an opportunity for a new main Men's 1 Sponsor to join us that includes the full package of brand promotion on our social media, pitch side and of course on playing shirts. If your business, employer or any contacts would be interested please get in touch with Connor Miller, Shelagh Everett or Niall Scott. We also have lots of other sponsorship opportunities available from £300 for a pitch side banner (for 12 months) to Club and Community options - or why not sign up and sponsor a 1's player for the rest of the season. Sponsorship income is key to our finances and without it we'd have to look to increase match fees further or find even more ways to fundraise.

...and finally, it the 300 Club Draw tonight at 6.30pm.
Our monthly TSC fundraiser with cash prizes just £4 an entry, buy tickets from the bar or Nick Burnett throughout the day. If you're in the club when the 300 Club is draw there's an extra opportunity to win one of the extra one the night prizes too.

...and we wish a special double Happy Birthday to one of our own true blue hockey families the Juddy's with Rob and Anna both celebrating significant birthdays !
