Weekly Update - season in full flow, kit orders, music, more hockey and making the M7's smile !

After last weeks shout outs it was great to see the Men's 7's fielding a side for the Bowdon Match and smiling at the end of the game despite the score line having completed their second league match ! With two games this weekend we still need another 4 -5 players to come forward to give us viable numbers to run 7 men's teams and offer lots of hockey to all. Thanks to all who played, helped find players and enable us to field 7 men's last weekend.

Academy parents and friends, students, cricketers all are welcome even if you've never picked a stick up before or not for 10-20 years ! Help spread the word Give hockey a go - play hockey at THC

With 14 sides in action last Saturday it was a pretty good day all round with 8 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats so a pretty good day all round. The Ladies 1 made it back to back wins with a 3-0 win over Cannock and the Men's 1's got their first National League point with a 2-2 draw against Lichfield. If anyone fancies a Sunday jaunt to Lancashire this weekend the Men's 1 play Preston (A) whilst the Ladies 1's make the trip to Beeston 2s.

With 8 home games (well Beavers are off site at Loretto GGS) including both 2's it will be another busy day at the club and don't forget to adhere to the one way system - enter via Stockport Rd and Exit via Wood Lane. This is really helping reduce the bottlenecks, road rage and congestion on the drive and making the club a safer place for all. Please don't block people in and if playing away park in Wood Lane end of Car Park to make leaving easier !

Saturday Night Hockey - handing over to the Men's 2's and Blue Badgers !
With both 1st XI's on the road for the next couple of weeks the Saturday Night Slot under the new lights passes over to showcase some of the club's other teams !

12th October Men's 2's v City of Manchester 1's 16:45 push back
19th October Blue Badgers v Bowdon Badgers 16:45 push back (plus 200 club draw and snowball £250 draw at 18:30)

So comedown , come back or stay down and take a look at the hockey on offer under the shinny lights ! The game of the game of the day concept has been to provide a focal point to the days hockey and the opportunity for everyone to meet up informally for a catch up, watch some hockey and a few drinks. When there's no National League Home games different teams will have the opportunity to play under the new lights and get some club support down from our youngest to oldest players ! The allocation has been based on how fixtures fell and working around league rules and getting opposition agreement where required.

The deadline for made to order items is Monday 14th October so don't delay if you want to order any items to arrive for Xmas. England Hockey Championships - are back !
EH Competitions start at the end of the month with a home tie local derby for the Men's 1 v Didsbury Northern on Sunday 27th October . The other senior and Masters teams start their campaigns in November with the Men's Over 50's meeting their nemesis local team from previous years and head to Formby for a rerun of the 2017 final on 10th November.

The Academy Teams will hopefully be getting their fixtures soon for the under 14s + with the Under 12's and 10's having to wait until next March for their EH Cheshire Cup games !

Fixtures and Scores on the Doors

Whilst all the England Hockey Fixtures sit on their own system now - see above link - life's getting a little easier with on finding and updating other match results and fixtures since Pitchero acquired Fixtures Live. Team captains / admins should be able to see scores updated on the website and don't forget you can add Match report and Photos to your teams web pages.

Fixtures Live still gives a good overview of most fixtures (a part from EH National League and Championship which we have to add and update manually). So take a look at the Fixtures Live Whats on - results and fixtures and save the link for an easy snapshot of scores of the doors each week. Click on Teams tab to see details by team.

The Academy teams are now back in full swing with Badgers, Blue Badgers and Beavers games on Saturday's and GMJHL hockey at the Armitage Centre has now started on Sundays. Once we get the EH Championships fixtures and home pitch slots booked in then we'll be looking to arrange friendly mini tournaments for our under 10's.

Next club social and National League Double Header - 26th October 2019
We host another busy days hockey in a couple of weeks when we host Wakefield Ladies 1s (16:00) and Men's 1s (18:00) for the next opportunity to support your 1's.

The Saturday Night Match will be followed by the first #oneclubfoursports social of the season when live music returns to the club with a night of soul and R and B with the Soul Temptations - tickets in advance £5 from the bar. After a bumper turnout for the opening National League games we had good numbers down last week with 85+ (L1) and 90+ (M1) - so lets try and smash the 100+ crowd for each game on 26th October !

Membership and Subs
Thanks to everyone who has paid their subs. We're just chasing the last few payments in now so please help your captain by paying over the bar this weekend. We do need everyone to complete a new TSC Ltd Membership Form and have been chasing these this week. If you've not completed a form please download, print off complete and drop off at the bar - or pick up a copy of the form to complete at the club this weekend.

Bar Cards are now linked to having your completed membership application (form) approved and subs being paid. Bar cards will be distributed over the weekend for those who have completed both parts of the process !
