With Summer Hockey coming to a close we've much to celebrate as we set up for the new league and cup season with successes for our young Blues through to our more more mature Blues!
Congratulations to Josh Higgin
Big shout out and well done to Josh Higgin whose been selected for the England U16 Age Group Assessments in September. Josh was selected following the recent Talent Academy Festival and we wish Josh all the best for the assessment phase and look forward to continue to see him work hard and grow as a player.
Masters success - silverware and golds !
Our Mixed Master squad were crowned champions of the North West 500 - a unique format competition for teams with whose 10 our field players ages add up to 500 or more (and a GK aged 35+) at the end of July. Congratulations to all who played and Niall Scoot and Sian Barlow for working the maths so well to fielding fantasy hockey teams through the ages from John Donnelly and Calvin O'Connor at the higher age range down to Leonnie Molloy our 1s Captain and everyone in-between! In its 2nd year some great hockey played, good social hockey pre and post match, lots of different players involved and a big trophy perched on top of the trophy cabinet in the clubhouse!
Sarah Impey and Debbie Chalcraft headed to the heat of Valencia for the European Masters Championship and and picked up Gold Medals with England O55's to add to their World Cup Golds last year. Col Taylor also picked up a Gold for England B at the parallel Spirit of Masters tournament.
North West Hockey Run Masters training and select representative squads for men (O35 to O75) and women (O35 to O60/65) so look out for more news on the dates for 2023-24 and get yourselves along to the friendly training sessions if you fancy giving NW Masters a go this year.
