What an opening league weekend!
The junior and adult league season is not truly underway and always good to get the first match and that first weekend out of the way - and what a fantastic weekend on and off the pitch !
Our THC Vision is .. To provide a positive hockey experience for all in a safe, welcoming and supportive environment to enable everyone to fulfil their hockey potential and life-long love and from our cubs to our 1st XI's the atmosphere around the club all weekend demonstrated in spades the type of place we want to be for all to come and enjoy our sport.
12 senior teams player and 5 junior teams over the two days and this amount of hockey simply doesn't happen without the support of so many so if you were one of the folks that did your bit - however big or small - thanks you for making hockey happen and for creating such a good feel around the club along with our players, parents and supporters. It was also fantastic to have our new sponsor for both 1s, Phillip Nott from PGN KIthens, with us for the whole weekend to watch the hockey, chat to members and parents about any house projects and provide a great little season welcome gift to all our juniors. See more about our sponsors and the vital role they do below.
Home teams also road-tested the new 'hockey teas' and bar menu. Big welcome and thanks to Abby whose leading TSC catering now and to Jane and the bar staff for providing teas and food on Sunday. We'll be testing more menu ideas over the next few weekends so do come and have teas post match and try the bar menu too. We've also some new beverages on tap at the bar too. !
We go again this weekend with even more hockey with Otters and Ladies 6's starting their games too so let's make it another good one and we a blue v blue derby game as Ladies 5 play Ladies 6's in Div 5 at 12.15 and the Men's 2's are our feature game at 4pm v Neston as welcome back Albert to the club (again..he's never away!). Let's get a good crowd down. The 1's are on the road with the women's off to Leeds on Saturday (4pm) and the lads off the Belper on Sunday at 1.30pm for anyone fancying a jaunt out to Derbyshire (one of prettiest drives to a hockey match you'll get !).
On the turf ...
An excellent weekend on the pitch at all levels and only dropped league points in 2 match (one junior one senior), and the men's sides were undefeated. For all the results, tables and fixtures don't forget to bookmark https://www.englandhockey.co.uk/clubs/timperley-hc/fixtures
We’ve a really strong and collaborative coaching team in place for the season extending for our Performance Squads (1/2's) and our club and juniors groups too that gives a really strong platform to build on this season - and it was really positive to see such good hockey being played and tried at the weekend showing their the investment in coaching is really reaping rewards on the pitch not just with results but player development too and really good hockey to watch for the spectators too.
Big results for the top four teams and shout out for Ali and Chris bagging their first points THC points as coaches with very positive team displays all round. Shout out to Mat G too with the L2 who made the transition to playing NW Prem really well picking up a 2 - 2 draw with established Chester 1s......and Robbie T also had a smile on his face as the M1's who 8 - 0 in their opener v Beeston 2's. 21 goals across the 1/2's and 10 points !
Congratulations to this weekend’s Conference North and or THC debutants:
We've also a new look programme for the National League games and will be sharing it digitally on match days too via our Instagram story, all adding those small step improvements help support our theme of #GreatMatchDay
Getting Social
Sadly we've had to reorganise the Race Night with a Difference as we didn't quite get to the minimum number of tickets sold as needed to make this a great night.
We've rearranged for Saturday 18th November so SAVE THE DATE - tickets previously sold will carry over or be fully refunded.
We held a lovely pr match lunch on Sunday before the M1 game hosted by Nick Burnett, TSC President and Nick's next pre match lunch will be on Sunday 5th November before the m1 v Ben Rhydding match at 2pm. Anyone can come along and we especially welcome former players, members and supporters of THC
The next #WatchYour1's double header is on Saturday 7th October with M1 at 4pm v newcomers Lindum at 4pm and L1 v Newcastle Uni at 6pm, lets get a big crowd down and stay down post game for a few drinks
9th December is another date to save as the M1's will be putting on a Quiz, Karaoke and evening's entertainment for us all !
...and finally this week....SUBS
The deadline for payment of 23-24 Membership subscriptions is 30th September - not pay no play will kick in from the week after.
