We've a quieter weekend coming up with both 1's teams on a league break due to the Olympic Qualifiers and Ladies 3,4 and 5's on the CWHL break. We've only three home matches (Men's 3,4,and 7's) and the Beavers are playing internal club matches from 2.30pm. To start the weekend why not come down to the Club from 8.30am to watch the Rugby World Cup Final - the bar will be open and breakfast bar menu available !
Scores on the doors
Despite the torrential rain we only lost one game last Saturday to the weather (M5 Away) with the efforts of the Men's 6 (and oppo Wilmslow) the green pitch lake was cleared and we had a full set of 7 home games - thanks to all involved in getting the games on !
Our Match Day Sponsorship was also in memory of Kwasi Emmanuel much loved and missed by all that had pleasure to know him. Kwasi would certainly have been proud of the way the Men's 1 played and bounced back to make it three wins in eight days !
Overall a mixed bag of results across the sides but those teams on a roll kept up winning ways and some really good results to edge up the league tables - highlights include:
- 1's do the double over Wakefield HC
- Ladies 1s win 2-0, remain undefeated and move up to 2nd on goal difference to Uni of Nottm, after Sutton Coalfield and Pendle drop points and draw
-Men's 1 produce a goal fest under the lights leading 2-0 at HT, a four goal third quarter to lead 4-2 and nailed it in the final quarter 6-2 and with back to back wins move up to 5th in the table
- Ladies 2s produced another high scoring game drawing 4-4 with Longridge to take points off the table toppers and bump them down to 3rd.We'd have taken the point at the start of the game but having led it was a disappointing not to get all three as performances continue to improve.
- Men's 2s remain unbeaten with a 3-1 win over the Welsh team and continue their annual tussle for top slot with Flyde HC as we drop to 2nd this week on goal difference
- Ladies 3's got another good win and congratulations to Woody and the girls who have moved up to 2nd in CWHL Division 2
- and finally the Men's 6's continue their unbeaten run with a 3-1 win over Wilmslow and remain top of the table
We started our EH Championships campaign on Sunday too with a solid 2-1 win for the Men's 1s v Didsbury Northern in Tier 1. We're now into the last 16 (following a disappointed number of entries) and have an away tie on Saturday 14th December v Sheffield Hallam who are in the National League North Division One so a good test for the lads. The other teams start their campaigns from the 10th November - EH Championship Update & Fixtures - Academy, Senior, Masters
We also had great crowd support for the latest 1's home double headers, we're starting to create a really positive atmosphere at games and getting good feedback from officials about the numbers down to watch and Saturday Night Hockey. Thanks to everyone for supporting the teams and keep coming down next double header Saturday 16th November with the Ladies 1 on at 14:00 and men's 1 at 18:00

Olympic Qualifiers - crunch time this weekend for GB Men and Women - watch the games !
Crunch time for our sport this weekend as both the senior GB sides are involved in double headers at Lee Valley to try and secure their place at next years Olympics. As well as potentially missing out on chasing the medals at Tokyo 2020 - qualification (and ranking and medal success) are key to the future funding of hockey, not just the national squads, but ability to attract sponsorship and maintaining the interest and growth seen after the women winning Gold in Rio. Find out more about the matches in The Hockey Paper
So once the Rugby is out of the way get behind the teams and follow the action on BT Sport if you can't make a mad dash to Lee Valley:
Saturday 2nd November
14:00 Women v Chile - BT SPORT ESPN
16:30 Men v Malaysia - BT SPORT ESPN
Sunday 3rd November
12noon Women v Chile - BT Sport 1
15:00 Men v Malaysia - BT Sport 3
