
Women’s 2s Performance Squad Coach / Women’s Club Coach Vacancy for 2026-27 Season
We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic and coach to lead our Women’s 2’s team training, lead the Women’s 2’s matchdays playing in the North West Hockey Premier Division and the delivery of training sessions for our Women’s 3 to 6’s players with the Women’s Head Coach.
The Women’s 2 Coach will work closely with our Women’s Head Coach, Chris Simcock, to continue to develop our jjoined up and integrated women’s performance squad (1/2’s) approach for 2026-27. This approach is aimed to create an environment to challenge, support and enable players to thrive and promote the development of the club, our women’s teams and individual players. Core to our approach is a #oneteam coaching team ethos and working together to support the delivery of a consistent development pathway across our women’s teams as well as supporting the transition to senior hockey and the development of our talented junior players.
For 2026-27 we will be continuing to adopt a performance squad approach for our Women’s 1’s and 2’s to foster a competitive and mutually supporting training and development environment to allow both teams and players to thrive. With Women’s 1s promoted to National League Conference North and the Women’s 2’s in North West Hockey Premier Division.
Key responsibilities include:
• Work with the Women’s head coach to develop the culture, mindset and programme to deliver a challenging, motivational and enjoyable hockey performance environment
• In conjunction with the Women’s head coach, prepare, plan, lead & deliver our women’s performance squad training sessions with a performance focus (leading the women’s 2’s). Performance Squad training is held:
o Pre-season (schedule to be discussed at interview)
o In-season: Tuesday’s 8.15pm to 10pm and alternate Thursday 8pm to 10pm
• Lead the Women’s 2s on weekend matchdays (normally Saturday’s) including pre match preparation and post-match de-briefs
• Assist Women’s 1s matchdays for development where possible
• In conjunction with the Women’s head coach, plan, lead & deliver coaching Club (Women’s 3 to 6’s) training sessions with a development focus. Women’s Club training is held:
o Pre-season (schedule to be discussed at interview)
o In-season: Tuesday’s 7.00pm to 8.15pm
• Support the planning and organisation of preseason commencing in June / July
• Support actions and culture to retain and attract players to our women’s programme
• Feed into and work with the Women’s Club Captain and Selection Group and to deliver appropriate and timely feedback to players as required and review of players across teams.
• Video analysis and feedback to the team and individuals where applicable.
All training sessions and home games are held at Timperley Sports Club.
Note: There may be further coaching opportunities if required for the right applicant across a range of talents and development environments and age groups.
Key competencies:
• Ideally an experienced level 2 and above (or equivalent experience) coach with a vibrant personality and a commitment to personal and professional development
• Experience of coaching performance hockey with a proven track record of success
• Good leadership skills including the ability to motivate individuals at a range of levels to develop both individually and collectively as players and playing squads
• Commitment to personal development as a coach
• DBS, Safeguarding and First Aid qualifications
• Strong team player with good interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well with
players, coaches and officials.
• Desire to integrate well within the club and a team player
• Local to the club or driving licence / car owner
Background:
Timperley Hockey Club have two floodlit on-site pitches and some of the best club-based facilities in the North of England. Linked to our hockey development strategy, the role holder will be able to play a key part in developing and delivering our coaching and playing ambitions through the Women’s 2’s (and 1’s) and as part of our wider coaching team.
With a dedicated committee, 14 senior teams )6 women’s), a thriving junior system, and supportive membership it is an exciting time to be associated with Timperley Hockey Club. The club’s organisation, coaching teams and facilities that have supported Timperley being selected as one of the England Hockey’s Talent Academy’s. The club is also in the process of completing its Club Mark renewal and Talent Club Certification with England Hockey.
Remuneration
We offer a competitive salary in line with experience, qualifications and time committed. It is to be noted that the successful candidate would be on a self-employed basis.
