Rainy day proved too much for Timperley There is no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather (John Ruskin)

Another away game for Timperley Ladies, however with a very impressive venue and VIP area hosted at Mill Farm Sports Village, home to Fylde HC who go into this game unbeaten (1 victory and 1 draw) after a strong start to the season, the Timperley ladies were full of enthusiasm and positivity. Saturday 7th October was a very wet, windy and cold day but a great warm up from Timperley ladies meant the team was ready and prepared with a clear purpose, to take three points from Fylde, game on.

Victoria Lomas (Timperley Captain) won the coin toss and Timperley started with push back. From the off Timperley played with great intensity, moving the ball well across the pitch, allowing the forwards to create opportunities early on in the game. Amanda Neurock came close, but some good defending from Fylde's back line, kept Timperley goalless. Fylde was struggling to find a way through Timperley's solid unit, and Timperley continued to press well, creating more chances and winning some penalty corners. Unfortunately, Timperley didn't take the opportunities and with the rain pouring down, some tired mistakes allowed Fylde in, who took their opportunity and scored in open play after countering down the right. 25 minutes into the game and Timperley's intensity seemed to have dropped significantly, allowing Fylde to create more chances and the first half ended Fylde 2 – Timperley 0.

Second half started off strong for both sides, Timperley creating more chances but again not taking their opportunities. Unfortunately for Timperley, Fylde picked up their intensity and with a questionable green card for Alice Cribb, Fylde took advantage of their extra player. After some great explosive play down the middle, Fylde scored a third goal to make it Fylde 3 - Timperley 0. Despite an excellent performance from Timperley goal keeper Rachel Small, Fylde scored a fourth goal to make it Fylde 4 - Timperley 0. At this stage the most important thing for Timperley Ladies was to not give up and end the game strongly. Timperley continued to press and managed to get a break with Leonnie Molloy who dribbled nicely around Fylde defence, hitting the ball in the bottom corner making the score Fylde 4 – Timperley 1. Despite a very disappointing result and one the Timperley ladies took hard, they finished the game strong and will take that into their next game away against Durham on 14th October.

All in all, the only person holding us back is ourselves. No more excuses, it's time to change it. Timperley need to understand that the hardest battles are for the strongest soldiers and that’s who Timperley Ladies are. One Strong Unit, who just needed to lose some small battles in order to win a war.

POM- Rachel Small for numerous amazing saves
DOD – Alice Cribb
