Every ball fought for by our girls with grit and determination

Team : Tully Evans, Katy Guest, Anna Judd, Harriet Merrill, Ella Nicolson, Jasmine Lord, Charlotte Lord, Elena Simpson, Roisin McAndrew, Eve Tumelty, Kitty Seth-Smith, Lucy Heap, Maddison Jackson-Nocker.

This was a very fast paced match. Our defence was very good led by a very composed Lucy Heap, who make her debut with the U14 team. Lucy frequently dispatched the ball back down the pitch. Defenders Ella Nicolson, Jasmine Lord did their best to defend. Jasmine hit the ball powerfully more than halfway down the pitch. Both teams were sprinting all over the pitch fighting for every ball. Wigton were strongest in the first half and got 3 goals in.

Charlotte Lord make a good few attempts at goal before halftime but they were stopped by the strong Wigton goalie. Tully stopped lots of attempts on our goal for every goal that went in there was at least 3 to 4 blocked by her. Katy Guest showed determination tackling and getting the ball and passing. Kitty Seth-Smith played well tackling the ball off the opposition and passed on to her teammates regularly.

After a team coaching session by Sarah the girls went back on motivated to do each role they were to play in the second half. Tactics described by Sarah were implemented by the team and Elena Simpson made a great attempt at goal. Harriet Merrill ran the length of the pitch weaving and turning the player marking her to pass to Charlotte Lord who scored our first goal.

Some great team work set up the next goal again by Charlotte Lord who like Harriet Merrill was on top form.
Another great run down the pitch by Anna Judd and passed to Maddison Jackson-Nocker who scored a great goal. Forwards Roisin McAndrew, Eve Tumelty and Maddison worked well together to make numerous attempts at goal and getting the ball off the opposition.

In the end Wigton were stronger they scored 3 more goals our girls fought the good fight and some had only just started playing for the U14's.

Coach has awarded Player of the Match to Lucy Heap for playing outstanding hockey in a composed and calm way whilst making her debut for U14. Well done Lucy Heap.
