Business like performance see the 2s take all 3 points from their day out in Cumbria

Timperley started the second half of their season a week earlier as headed north for their rearranged fixture against Keswick, the only other unbeaten team in division 1.

The early start was painful and a few did wonder if the game was going to go ahead with the weather looking grim to say the least. The stop off at Tebay did lift the spirits and the weather as it seemed to clear the closer we got to the destination. Following arrival the waiting around was less than ideal as when the caretaker did eventually turn up and finished his brew or cleaning his climbing gear the team were able to get going.

Following the normal warm up the message from the skipper was clear, let the ball do the work due to the limited hockey the team had been exposed to.

As the game started Timperley struggled to get into their stride with Keswick dominating possession in the early passages without causing Timperley too much trouble. Small, Price, Burgess and Woods keeping the Keswick forwards at bay.

As Timperley got a foothold in the match Burgess was starting to pull the strings, creating space for Lord, Bangee, Hughes and Walsham. Timperley then lacked the final pass as they were misfiring.

Things started to click as they started to create chances with a couple of chances going begging. This seemed to give Timperley confidence as they created more and more chances.

The breakthrough finally came in the 29th minute when the ball was won by Wilson who played the ball down the right and after some neat interplay between Woods and Walsham the ball eventual found Higgin at the back post who calmly applied a neat finish.

Timperley continued to press forward but were unable to add to their tally before the half time.

Half time was simple, keep the ball moving and give the easy pass other than that change nothing.

As the second half started Timperley were able to continue with their control of the game with Lord, Wilson and Burgess in particular pulling the strings to keep Keswick pinned back.

Unfortunately as chances were created, they went begging but fortunately Timperley kept their wits about them and did not let this get the better of them.

After a few sighters Timperley were able to double their lead as Hardern deceived the keeper to give Timperley a little breathing space.

Keswick upped the anti trying to force their way back into the game but the Timperley defence stood firm and thwarted anything they threw at them.

As the game came to an end Price missed a guilt edge chance at the final whistle as he chalked his effort with only the 'keeper to beat.

That is now all teams in the league played with a clean sweep but the focus remains the same as they welcome Alderley Edge to Stockport Road this Saturday on what is expected to be a much tougher challenge as they sit 3rd in the league.
