Hat tricks for Hardern and McCarthy see Timperley break double figures.

Timperley were back at the Stockport Road following last weeks comfortable win at Prescott.

The men in blue were hoping for more of the same but were certainly not taking the students lightly.

With the game underway the students seemed to adopted a 5-4-1 formation which we initially believe was down to the 'keepers misdemeanours and the possibility of him having to go vacate the goal for what I believe the youngsters call a tactical chunder. Anyway, this seemed to knock Timperley off their stride and whilst having the lion share of possession were extremely wasteful in and around the D.

As stand in coach Horan rang the changes the message was clear - take your time and go for the extra pass. Timperley started to take note and on the 15 minute mark Hardern opened his and Timperley's account as he smashed home from the left hand side of the D. One soon became 2 as 5 minutes later Hardern double the lead via his trademark short corner.

Just a minute later Timperley carved the students open again as they attacked down the left with Higgin sliding the ball across the D to Walsham who finished with aplomb.

Not done with the students Timperley found the net 2 minutes later as Hughes shot, the lack of pace fooled the 'keeper who managed to dive over the ball only to find Higgin waiting to pounce which he did as he "smashed" home from an inch out.

Unfortunately Timperley were unable to add to their tally as a lack of execution and greed as the men in blue got trigger happy. Whilst they need add to the scoreline they certainly weren't in trouble as Jones was a mere bystander as Saunders and Small picked everything demoralising the students with every forward pass that was made. Along with Price and Woods they were able to find Burgess at will who appeared to be playing with his invisible cape on so he could

The message at half time was clear, simplify the play and be more clinical as the stats were not looking pretty (I think the count was 20 circle entries with only 4 goals and 3 short corners).

As the second half got underway Timperley started to their game together. With the McCarthy, Bolton and Higgins running the defence all over the midfield of Bangee, Walsham, McBride and Walsham were making use of the space.

The 2nd half deadlock was broken 8 minutes in as Timperley created space through 2 and 3 touch passes that left McCarthy with a simple tap in at the back post. 3 minutes later Timperley scored again as they broke quickly, leaving McCarthy with another tap in. Only two minutes later Timperley won a short corner that was duly converted.

7 minutes later Hardern completed his hat trick as he slotted home yet another short corner. 2 minutes later Hardern added to his tally as he slotted home after finding space.

Timperley weren't done as McBride got in on the act as Timperley moved the ball smartly, leaving him with a simple tap in.

As the game came to a close there was just enough time for McCarthy to complete his hattrick which saw the team reach 11. McCarthy's high spirits didn't last long as England were able to see off the South Africans in the Autumn internationals to see the England keep a 100% record matching Timperley.

Next week see's the men in blue going to Lytham hoping to continue on their journey.
