10 minute spell see Timperley score 5

Timperley hosted West Derby at Stockport Road in less than desirable conditions. The men in blue were down Higgin (leg) and McCarthy (football...) but were still confident with the squad they went with albeit understanding what they were facing with a team that had beat fellow title contenders City of Manchester just last week.

As the game started Timperley started with a familiar pattern that had deserted them last week, moving the ball and controlling the tempo of the game.

It didn't take long for Timperley to start causing the West Derby defence with Bolton and Hardern find holes at will. Timperley started to turn the possession into chances with Burgess forcing the first save from the keeper when the ball fell to him he unleashed with his new purple wand that nearly took the keeper with him. Following this Timperley had more chances including Bangee having a goal disallowed.

With the West Derby goal breached it wasn't long before Timperley scored their first legitimate goal as Bolton found yet more space on the left hand side and as his cross/ shot was met by a delightful finish by a West Derby defender. Bolton's celebration was not one of a man who is on a hot streak in front of goal.

Whilst Price, Small, Woods, Burgess and Wilson were doing a good job of protecting Hurlestone West Derby did have some infrequent forays one of which saw a superb save from the young goalkeeper.

Bangee, Hughes, Walsham and McBride continued to enjoy time and space in midfield creating headaches for West Derby on a regular basis.

On the 25th minute the floodgates opened as Timperley really went to town as they scored 5 in the remaining 10 minutes of the first half.

Firstly Hardern stepped up to do what he's done so effectively all season as he converted yet another short corner. 2 minutes later McBride was the beneficiary as a short corner broke down the ball fell to a willing McBride how finished into a near empty net. On the 29th minute Bolton was then the beneficiary of another short corner routine as he converted Timperley's 4th.

On the 32nd minute Timperley scored their best goal as they built up nicely before Bangee and Bolton interchanged with Bangee selflessly squaring the ball to Bolton to give him his hattrick. Timperley should have been 6 up shortly afterwards as the West Derby 'keeper cleaned out Bolton out but Price's lame attempt was easily thwarted by the West Derby 'keeper.

Fortunately Timperley were able to add a 6th on the stroke of half time as a ball was played into the D where Wilson was able to beat the 'keeper to the punch and deflect home.

Message at half time was simple, continue with the same and reap the rewards.

With the weather adding an addition opponent chances were limited as Timperley lost their shape and their pattern as they looked too hard to force the issue.

West Derby were able to pull one back from a short corner before Bolton added a 4th to his personal tally after some great work down the right from Lord set Bolton free. His initial reverse stick shot was saved the rebound fell nicely for Bolton to allow him to finish.

West Derby were able to add a second before the game was out to give Timperley their 9th win of the season.

Next week the blues take the short trip to City of Manchester to see out the first half of the season where Timperley will be looking to go into the Christmas break with a perfect record.
