The score line belies a close and at times difficult game for the Beavers. Sandbach were a strong opponent and caught Timperley on a day when they were weakened by illness and only able to field eleven players. This meant they all had to work hard throughout the game.
A sluggish start meant that Timperley were two goals down after 10 minutes and had shown little attacking intent. However, a slick goal by Rory Driscoll halved the arrears. The game was broken down into three 20 minute periods. After the restart Wilf Roberts scored twice from open play though Timperley still found it difficult to dominate. This resulted in Sandbach hitting back to equalise with 20 minutes to go.
In the last period Timperley finally found their form and scored five unanswered goals. They pressured the Sandbach defence who found it almost impossible to get out of their own half. After one such goal the Timperley back three were camped on the Sandbach 23 metre line!
There were two hat tricks from Oli Burton and Rory Driscoll. Timperley now need to take those last twenty minutes into the start of their next game at home to Blackpool.
