With many of the Beavers squad unavailable for selection due to an U14s girls match and half term we looked to our young Y6 players to fill the gaps left for this away fixture against Macclesfield HC. In a game that saw little for GK Ben to do it was our Y6 players that stood out. Lilly and Maggie had assured games in defence and soon learned that there's a lot of ground to cover when playing 11-a-side. They were supported by stout tackling and tracking back by our defenders Luke, Josh C-L and Zac B. The Macclesfield keeper and defence was tested with numerous short corners early in the match and after the first quarter Timps had a two goal cushion. At lot of the game was played in the Macclesfield half and some good movement of the ball from our midfield including Will Evans, Ed, Zac S and Wilf brought many attacking opportunities for our front players of Ewan, Will McB and Sahil. It was Sahil who impressed in his first full Beavers game, looking very comfortable in front of goal getting himself on the score sheet. Credit must also go to captain Fergus who identified the need for us to look to spread the ball wide more often during the half time talk. This, and moving the ball quickly, is something that we must take into next Saturdays game against Oxton.
Goal scorers: Ewan (4), Will McB (1), Will E (2), Sahil (1), Wilf (1)
Man of the match: Sahil
